Peterpools
Rob Geez neither of the two paints seem to match the decal exactly; one is a bit too light and the other is a bit too dark. Just can't win. of course,
Peterpools
Paul Right on the money and my way of doing things these days as well. Just seems almost everything I am always wanting and need is either out of stock or back ordered and then the waiting game begins.

The first pic is taken under artificial light with 5200K, the second with natural light .
Peterpools
Rob Thanks for the clarity of the comparison. Just curious as to the time of day for the natural light as the color temp (Kelvin) changes throughout the day. In all photography, the quality of the light is one of the most important factors in achieving the desired colors.
belugawhaleman
Some items from Plaza Japan........ First, from Tamiya, their Fieseler Fi156C Storch (61100) in 1/48. This kit has been on my list for some time, but I was always put of by the price....Plaza had it for much less....$25.42 U.S.. Next, Tamiya's Aichi M6A1 Seiran (61054) in 1/48 scale. I have been looking for this one for a while.....an interesting subject. Last; three firearm kits in 1/12 scale from the Tomytec "little Armory" Series. These are detailed little models of famous guns that were used by characters (girls) in some sort of Japanese animated series. One picture on a box showed the girl with animal ears........and having a tail....weird! Anyway the guns I got are: 1. 1918 Browning Automatic Rifle 2. Arisaka type 38 rifle 3. Japanese type 100 submachine gun. They are each nicely detailed models that allow for options during building up. For example, the Arisaka rifle allows the builder to chose from having the bolt open or closed with the sliding receiver cover on or off the rifle. Having owned a Type 38 Arisaka I can say the detail is pretty good, they even throw in a 5 round charger clip. Anyway, some fun items.

ScottsGT
No pics, but just got a resupply in from Sprue Bros. I ordered the tweezers that denders recommended in my Cutlass thread, some paint and primer, Quinta interior for the SUFA kit and a couple of F-86 wheel sets from reskit. I just couldn’t pass up their 20% off everything sale last weekend. 2 1

belugawhaleman
Some more items from Plaza Japan...... First from Tamiya it's their; Type 16 MCV C5 w/winch (35383) in 1/35. I also got the metal barrel for this kit (12686). I've been looking at this kit for a awhile but was put off by the price and need to purchase the metal barrel. The cost at Plaza being much less than US suppliers made it possible. Also, got Tamiya's 1/48 Fairey Swordfish Mk.II (61099). This kit sells for $ 86.00 US at Sprue Brothers......just $ 22.00 at Plaza. Last; two Tomytec "Little Armory" gun kits in 1/12 scale. Their AKMS & AKMSU type (LAO79) and their Bren MK.I light machine gun (LASWO4) these are nice little kits that don't cost much.

I like the rustical Swordfish and would build her heavily weathered with pilots in. Have you bought the additional Tamiya PE set with the flat bracing wires included. I would do so for mine. Cheers Rob

I'm going to check out Plaza Hobbies today and if shipping isn't bad and their prices that good, just might give them a try. Do you have the link, it would be very appreciated.

Well, Peter the shipping is high. I only buy items that show significant savings and try to build my cart so that shipping is at the lowest. The kit looks impressive.
BlrwestSiR
Supposedly the Trumpeter 1/32 Swordfish is a scaled up copy of the Tamiya kit which means it avoids some of the accuracy issues that can plague their kits.

Yes, I heard that. I considered buying the Trumpy kit but I thought it would be huge ,the Tamiya kit in 1/48 being pretty big. The Tamiya Storch kit I bought earlier looks like beautiful kit, very well engineered but it's tiny compared to their Swordfish.
BlrwestSiR
I picked up a few things at the Nats. Some stickers I was looking for: At the ZM booth, I picked up the Concept Notes book for the Shinden and the new F-4E late kit.

DocRob
Got a new car kit, which I couldn´t let pass and a lot of tools from Plaza Japan for great prizes. The legendary Porsche 917 in it´s finest livery to my taste, has a sheet of PE included, luckily, so there is no need for a lot of AM. Having killed one of my Tamiya cutters, I ordered a substitute. This is my favorite all purpose cutter. I have the sharper ones as well, but like them only for special occasions. The larger cutter is labeled for plastic and soft metal, lets see, how it works with MFH´s whit metal. You can´t have enough types of tweezers, so I added some shapes missing. Not shown are a heap of drill bits with atypical diameters, which are needed for the MFH kits. Cheers Rob

Cheers Rob Your MFH builds got me seriously tempted by their 917, either in their livery as your Fujimi kit, or as the spectacular Le Mans 71 long tails … The 917 vs 512 is the duel that got me sold to Posrche in my youth. (Apart from a 365 Daytona) I was never since a fan of Ferraris. But I am up to my 3d Porsche Hubert

And of course, you can never have enough tools; some nice additions to your tool chest.
