O.K., admittedly a bit silly and not a model.....but I made up a little

custom mug for myself using Vista print.

Using artwork found on the internet and Google translate.

Pictured is a Panzer 38 (t) in action and the phrase "Happiness is a warm tank" ....in German. I got this in just two days from Vistaprint and the quality

Looks pretty good.

HMS Bulwark, that brings back some memories I can remember visiting her when she was docked in Liverpool, I was astonished how thin the skin was on a helicopter when I pushed on it.

It must have been in the sixties as I was still at school.

Cheers

Dennis

Lovely old ship the Rusty B . This is me on the starboard side of theisland as she steamed into Pompey for the last time 27th March 1981 😀

Got a Gecko!

That is,....A Gecko Models large-scale kit of a small tank.

It's their; Pz.Kpfw II Ausf F (Sd Kfz 121) N. Africa & Southern Russia

(16GMOOO9) in 1/16 scale.

'Never made a Gecko Models kit before....although some of their 1/35

kits look interesting.... their little Daimler Scout for instance. Anyway, this

kit being in 1/16 has been on my list for some time. Since I saw Andy's

video on it. The working tracks look good, they assemble with track pins similar to Takom's panzer 1 kits. There's some photo-etch and clear parts

as well.

Hey Paul

It's a nice kit, I have it in my stash. There are alot of tiny parts on it so take your time

Takoms Panzer III's tracks don't have pins. There are two pieces to each link, by assembling them you trap one to the other therefore making them workable, kinda neat idea, WAY better than the tracks in AHHQ's Tiger kit by Takom.

Thanks Ron, I was comparing these to Takom's Panzer I A & B kits tracks

They do connect with pins. Not their panzer 3.

Something different....

An aircraft, not a big tank.

      From Tamiya; it's their 1/48 Heinkel He162 A-2 "Salamander" (61097).

Using up my Tower Hobbies "loyalty rewards" points I spent just $16.00

For the kit. A while back I had a dispute with Tower Hobbies regarding an

order that they canceled without any notification. An angry email from me

resulted in 2000 points given to me. a value of about $50.00. I've been

using them up since then....plus a $10.00 "birthday" reward.

     Anyway, it looks like a good kit. Released in 2006. An interesting subject;

I've been wanting to build a 126...mainly the big Revell kit but I can't find that one anywhere..

one.

Another Self-designed Vistaprint Mug came today.

This time featuring my all-time favorite tank....the

Renault Ft...A "cute" tank, that is until its 37 mm or

Hotchkiss 1914 started throwing metal in your direction.

Well, I'm happy with these mugs, they replaced some

that I lost in my last move. Like I said before, the quality

looks good and I got them fast.

Peter, definitely lots of reading to come. The interesting part is the book set (there's 2 volumes) is labelled Volume 1.

As for Shermans, I've got a couple in the stash but they're all British Firefly 17 pdrs.

Hey Carl

I've been toying with the idea of crossing AHHQ Sherman easy 8 with the Achilles in order to make a M4A3 (76) VVSS Sherman, but there $149.00 dollars each! The wife would kill me, castrate me and burn me alive if I  spent that much right know.😳

Ron, my wife would probably do the same but not necessarily in that order.

Peter,

If Andy comes out with a VVSS Sherman in 1/16, I'll most likely get one of those. He's almost there with his Easy 8 Sherman and the VVSS suspension in the Achilles/M10 kits coming out. He just need to combine the two.

Carl

Great plan for sure and seems there are some very dangerous minefields to cross before getting the kits into the stash.

Maun Parallel pliers ....£30 .....made in the UK !

Came across them on some vidya , grip better than regular pliers, very useful for straightening wire, copper sheet , no jaw marks etc , and big in the jewellery making community so I thought , why not give 'em a go?
