Mosquito B Mk.IV

Recommended Posts

The Mosquito test shot had undergone so many changes that I have now abandoned the first one I had. This (still buildable!) will be on its way to Mal to make some masks.

:)  Seeing this being built drives me a little insane knowing that I will get to fondle actual plastic soon :) the fact that this is going to get better for the actual kit speaks volumes for HKM :)

On the other hand I see raised circles on the armourplating. These were in fact painted on yellow circles. So the raised detail must be sanded off. It is claimed the yellow circles marked the steel items in the cockpit. The compass could be affected and had to be corrected.

But then again HKM can also have meant these to represent head rests? Jim do you have any instructions at all?

I'd read that the yellow circles denoted armour plate which was "side" specific - the yellow disc denoted the side of the plate that would face the enemy...

Edit:- Sorry .. I missed Flipper's post :)

I'm so tardy at updates, but thought I'd post a couple of photos of the undercarriage units.

These were a dream to build and install to the nacelles.

The thing I like most about your building is the painting/shading/weathering that you do. It really inspires me, I'd like to get similar results in my builds! Top notch!

Mal has already created me a full set of masks for this beauty :)

Can anyone enlighten me on the colour of the spinners?

I'm thinking black, left over from when the machine had black undersides.....

All construction is now complete, except for adding the undercarriage doors and bomb bay doors.

I thought I'd add a few photos here to show you some progress.

Got to say that this is one of the most enjoyable build projects I've ever done, next to the Do 335 (also HK Models!)

No decals at all with this as it's a test shot. I used Airscale instrument and placard decals for everything (as I do with EVERY model!)

If it's the bomb bay door hinges you mean, then on this test shot, the forward and rear ones are moulded to the bulkheads, but that is fragile, so HK will make them as separate parts in the final kit.
