DocRob
Thanks Danny, some things have to be finished before calling her done. Next week I will have a little garden project to distract me . Cheers Rob
DocRob
Hola Hombres, I made some progress today finishing the decals and numerous stencils. Everything went well with the Cartograph stuff, but they take a lot of time to soak. After a coat of future it's time for the final assemblies. The decals blended well after sealing, the NMF hides the carrier film well. The canopy and windscreen were not test fitted, because I like to keep them on a piece of sprue for futurizing, masking and painting but they seem to fit well, phew. Martinnfb
Lovely build Rob I really like the layering effect on aluminium plating .
DocRob
Thanks guys, 11 hours ago, Martinnfb said: I really like the layering effect on aluminium plating . I like that effect too, but would have wished for a little lesser grain, but that is probably my fault. Lots of experimenting ahead to get the right sheen on the plastic. Bomber_County
Absolutely stunning Rob, must try your layering of the NFM...
DocRob
Thank you Phil, generally spoken, these AK Xtreme metal colors are a little bit more forgiving than Alclads. Specially with masking and clear coating they are durable, but I had some problems with panel lining. Cheers Rob

DocRob
Thanks Gentlemen, 4 hours ago, DannyVM said: You id a marvelous job to give Dottie the look's to shine in all her glory. Hi Danny, I tried to let her really shine newish, because I wanted to depict the restored Dottie and failed during the process and the bright shine vanished a little. So to call she is 'as new' . Am I right, that your Dottie represents the status of the manual (I think it was 1944 somewhere in France), as you have the black markings on the tail? What about a simultaneous rollout ? Just joking. Cheers Rob

DocRob
Good evening Gentlemen, while still being occupied with a project in the garden, which is about 100m of concrete pathes through the jungle, with some lamps to be set and connected, I managed some steps with Dottie. I burnished the Master metal barrels and decided against building them into the pre drilled holes for now and continued with the wheels and landing gear. The tires received my usual treatment of Tamiya Nato black first, then a bluish black shade for the flanks of the tire and the diamond area receives a brown-green-black shade, all from the great Lifecolour Black-Set. Afterwards some pale grey Mig pigments and because Dottie is a show bird the Goodyear stencils where finely treated with pastel. The landing light received some Chrome pigments from Uschi, which are great in shininess and mirroring effect. Some treatment for the formation lights, added with translucent Colours of AK.

DocRob
Thanks Rich, I'm trying hard to get at least decent photos of my builds. Being an almost lifelong landscape and travel photographer, adopting macro photos with artificial light isn't my comfort zone and it's a steep learning curve. Peterpools
Rob Holy Cow Absolutely gorgeous work. Just can't get over the NMF and weathering ... brilliantly done Keep 'em comin Peter
DocRob
Thank you Peter, I like the look too, it looks definitely more metal than other colors and application methods I've tried, but there is still room for improvement. There is a 1/48 P-38 in my stash….. Cheers Rob
DocRob
Hola Senhores, Dottie is done. Today I added the prop, the canopy, the guns and antennas and the gunsight. I hope you enjoyed the build like I did. It was a trouble free experience. The kit is great and the Eduard extras are as well. I will try to get some decent photos for the 'finished-section'. I want to thank everybody for support and comments Cheers Rob
