ScottsGT Posted May 8 Posted May 8 My current project. While this is relaxing, I’m having DT’s not getting bench time. Heading towards Amsterdam now for a flight home tomorrow. 5

Last being Shetland islands. It’s been an eye opener! But fantastic weather this entire time. All the locals were celebrating because of the unusual bight sunny skies and warmer weather. I told them all don’t get use to it. I’m taking it home with me when I leave! 5 1
GusMac Posted May 9 Posted May 9 Amsterdam to Liverpool is a fair stretch for a first stint. Thought they might have stopped somewhere on the east or south coasts to break it up a bit. Orkney and Shetland are definitely worth the trip with all the Viking and earlier settlements. It's crazy at Skara Brae on Orkney to think that it was already 2500 years old when the Great Pyramid was built! 4
Spitfire Posted May 10 Posted May 10 It sounds just like a cruise we should take, we love cruises but have never cruised the British Isles. Cheers Dennis 1

It's crazy at Skara Brae on Orkney to think that it was already 2500 years old when the Great Pyramid was built! We were supposed to make a stop before Liverpool, but the ship was a day late getting out of dry dock from upgrades. Our Sunday departure turned into a Monday departure and they had to drop the first port we were supposed to get. We got a $700 credit, so we figured what the heck, let’s pit it towards a drink package and spend an extra $700 so we were both covered. It was an easy decision after we bought two Corona beers and the tab was $25. Besides, they were offering a 30% discount on the first day. Shetland was cool! We went to the old ruins that dated back 4000 years in time and progressed through history. It was the original “man cave” they built out of stones. We still need to file for a refund on the extra night of hotel cost. And considering it was Kings Day weekend in Amsterdam, hotel prices were jacked up accordingly. 4
ScottsGT Posted May 11 Posted May 11 And FYI, this morning was my first morning back home. Post weigh in after the cruise with all the fine dining, desserts, alcohol consumed, etc over a 16 day period? Zero net gain. Not sure what to credit with that. All the walking or the European food without all the additives like HFCS instead of real sugars. I was amazed at the difference of food in Europe. So much better. 5

Martinnfb Posted May 14 Author Posted May 14 No it wouldn't. I tried, Tamiya softener doesn't even touch it, I went as far as using Solvaset and Tamiya extra thin glue to melt it in. And noppity nope. 1
ScottsGT Posted Thursday at 12:42 AM Posted Thursday at 12:42 AM Crazy idea. I’ve fixed bad silvering by airbrushing on a coat of Leveling Thinner. Try that? 2
Martinnfb Posted Thursday at 01:14 AM Author Posted Thursday at 01:14 AM I tried lacquer thinner. I've had it all cleaned up and ordered a new set of decals. Wanted to build Franz Stiegler's mount, but not this time. Instead it is going to be this bad boy. 5
Martinnfb Posted Friday at 03:19 AM Author Posted Friday at 03:19 AM In the meanwhile I slapped this together. No fuss just a sloppy quickie. 4

Spitfire Posted Saturday at 10:23 AM Posted Saturday at 10:23 AM After a few challenging PCM builds I have settled on a very straightforward Hasegawa build, I really like their no nonsense well engineered approach. And it is really flying along, not literally though. Cheers Dennis 5
Martinnfb Posted Saturday at 03:46 PM Author Posted Saturday at 03:46 PM Great build Dennis, following on LSP as well. 2

Spitfire Posted Saturday at 07:02 PM Posted Saturday at 07:02 PM Sure is, luckily as I do not know that much about Japanese subjects Nick Millman and his Aviation of Japan blog helped me out a lot with the details for the build. Cheers Dennis 3
BlrwestSiR Posted Sunday at 07:42 PM Posted Sunday at 07:42 PM Nothing quite like a Victoria Day weekend smoked turkey. A new tradition? 3
