Primed in light grey first then a light coat of  flat brown, spray flat white on top of exhaust  only to duplicate light accent. ( this will help lighten the brown a bit for your second coat)

Nato black in recess area only, second coat of flat brown then first coat of Red brown....let that dry several hours and add flat white to your Red brown to do more light accent on top then mix Clear Orange and orange and spray close to the exhausts end to simulate some variation of heat in the exhausts. Let that dry overnight then dry brush with flat brown mixed white (oil paint).
I will spray  one coat only of nato black ( highly diluted  90/10)all over the piece then spray thin coats of flat finish.

I hope this helps

WOW, what an awesome tutorial on how to do the exhaust and it's booked marked.

Exhaust painted . I was hoping to add the engine at the end of the build but it's not possible. I need to add few brass rods to support the engine.  This is dry fitted. StilL need to add all the wiring.  I may need to paint the orange paint around the edges to minize the masking.

Flat coated engine and backwall, another wash on the wires and cables since it was too new looking. Most of the cables and wires won't be seen once the engine is in place. I know I am posting a lot but I want to get this done.

I did another dark wash on the open doors only at the bottom to simulate engine  dirt. I

I love your style Oliver, it's busy enough to catch the eye and entertain, but not fanatically obsessive with things you will never see again. A true joy to follow. Thank You for sharing this source of endless inspiration with us.

Cheers

Engine in place(not glued).  I had to insert an aluminum rod in the kit and slide the engine on it(much easier to handle). I prepainted the top grills Orange since I was afraid of over spraying the green inside. MRP paint is a dream to spray.
Also painted the blades bracket.  Moving on to painting the blades next. The engine angle is correct while in maintenace( research photo )

Thanks fellows.  Since the engine is in place for now, i started on the Wrecker US Army truck with the hoist( i wanted to minimize the handling of the engine parts since its so delicate). I have never built a truck before or even painted one.....I have to rework the kit since the one I have is a missile Launcher (see below)and not a tow truck. Will post when I got it figured it out.image.jpeg.e8b398a8f60a4a9641dcb0b17105ea1e.jpeg

I did order the jeep and trailer to check the size difference. The jeep is in 1/35 and my truck in 1/35.

I can't speak to your helicopter restoration , but can if offer the advice of focusing on the chassis with the truck build early on, to check you get all four wheels on the floor. Often the instructions will call for the wheels or axles later , by which time it can be harder to correct the one wheel up look .
