JohnB Posted October 9, 2020 Author Posted October 9, 2020 This much has to be trimmed off to allow the wings to attach with the proper dihedral. 3 1
Wingco57 Posted October 9, 2020 Posted October 9, 2020 No shake and bake kit I got that, but is it camera distortion or is the fuselage not in line? 2

Expand I hadn't noticed that but it does look out of alignment. I'll have to check it out. If it is there's nothing I can do to correct it at this late date. 4
JohnB Posted October 9, 2020 Author Posted October 9, 2020 It might be slightly out but some of it is a optical illusion due to lighting and areas that have primer on them and others that don't. At any rate there's nothing I can do about it now. 4
GazzaS Posted October 9, 2020 Posted October 9, 2020 It has been said that anything can be fixed with a 6-pound hammer. 3 1
JohnB Posted October 10, 2020 Author Posted October 10, 2020 After taking a closer look I do believe the fuselage is slightly warped. Not a thing I can do about it so I'll just have to live with it. Sure wish I had noticed it when I could fix it. 2 2
GazzaS Posted October 11, 2020 Posted October 11, 2020 Bummer, Dude. I was hoping it was a photographic illusion. 2

JohnB Posted October 11, 2020 Author Posted October 11, 2020 Wings adjusted and roots faired in, etc. 5
JohnB Posted October 13, 2020 Author Posted October 13, 2020 Progress! Now to go back to the cockpit and re-install everything and then attach the canopy parts. Dare I say it's downhill from here. 6
JohnB Posted October 16, 2020 Author Posted October 16, 2020 Ready to mount the instrument panel and gunsight. 7
Administrators Clunkmeister Posted October 16, 2020 Administrators Posted October 16, 2020 Looks great, John. This kit will throw you a curve every now and then Clever, eh? But in your defense, you're always chasing the little things with this. I think it's gonna be one of those great builds. 3
Administrators Clunkmeister Posted October 16, 2020 Administrators Posted October 16, 2020 Of all the stupid things, I struggled with the canopy fit on my first one of these. I let my guard down for 10 seconds and ended up creating myself 10 days needless work. 2

It has been a bear to build but I think I have all the toughest things done. Those guys at HpH must just want to make things difficult for us builders. Even the canopy masks don't fit! Jeeze Louise!!! 4

Took all day but finally got it done. 4
JohnB Posted October 20, 2020 Author Posted October 20, 2020 Spoke too soon about the canopy! Now I'm working to blend the rear portion in to the fuselage. Terrible fit. 2 2 2
JohnB Posted October 21, 2020 Author Posted October 21, 2020 Better! Not perfect but better. Still some small areas to clean up. 8 1
JohnB Posted October 21, 2020 Author Posted October 21, 2020 Agreed Harv. Thanks! Next I'll overspray the model with primer in preparation for some PAINT. Still a long way to go though. 2
JohnB Posted October 23, 2020 Author Posted October 23, 2020 All primed and ready for painting to begin. French AF Indo China/Vietnam. 10
GazzaS Posted October 24, 2020 Posted October 24, 2020 Now looking like a plane, John! Can't wait to see the paintjob you lay on it. 5

Expand LOL Thanks. It would be hard to find for sure, at least for a decent price. I have another in my stash but that's where it will stay as I have no intentions whatsoever of building it. Three is enough! 1
