I second that, when I built my TA-152, I absolutely hated the heavy rasterized PE IP. When I put it into the fuselage, I found that without an endoscope it's not even visible and with some cursing about the quality of the product,I used it.

For glazing bezels I use Pledge on a toothpick and apply it at least two times, which looks good to me.

To my knowledge, there is no specific resin cockpit set for the A-5 variant. However some others come close:

Aires make a D9 'pit in resin that is 95% identical to the radial variant, only a real Luftwaffe Nerd would pick the differences.

Eagle Editions also do a specific A-8 pit that again is basically the same as the A-5 airframe. The beauty of this set is that it has separate sidewalls, that allows you to leave the kit-supplied detail in that area should you not want go to the trouble of scraping and sanding away all the details, making for a much simpler build... The bummer is that the Crandalls are currently out of stock.

Cutting Edge did one many years ago for the D9, but it's not generally available anymore. The Eduard set for the newer Revell kit had fantastic details, but will not fit without a lot of work (as the two kits' cockpits are different lengths and widths.)

IP 2.0. No fancy crap. Used the Aires up base and attached the leftover Eduard PE. May have to trim the top a little. So, back at this. Also had to use my spare fuselage.  I wrecked the first one....harv

The Aires rear deck is too narrow because the rear wall of the resin cockpit sits further back towards the tail, in the correct position. The kit cockpit has no rails for the seat to sit within, and it's rear wall sits more forward roughly in the position where the rails would be (if it had them that is). So the seat position is right, just not the rear wall... And therefore the rear cover is longer and fatter than it should be.

Harv, that is 'should' sit further back towards the tail...

Aires by the look of it have cocked something up somewhere along the line. Jim experienced the same problem as you, in his excellent pull-apart 'Dora build a decade ago, and I quote:

The Aires-supplied deck is the correct length and shape. However it's going into the Hasegawa fuselage that has a deck that's too wide and too long. So the solution that you found works, and you're in great company as well into the bargain.

Thanks again. I compared the two tubes, and found both are same length,  but the side pannels are shorter than the kit parts including the Eduard PE. So I will carry on with the Aires pit and kit turtleneck.  Much thanks for you detailed reply...harv
