I found a picture of a Grant on a trailer with only tracks on one side, missing drive sprocket and front bogie. So in that case, I would be almost half down with the tracks. :D

I'm up to 20 links now.

Back to the Scammell, I've been working on many of the small subassemblies that are required for the chassis.

IMG_20200808_114554.thumb.jpg.594171081b50859d6cfbbd1f15e0cab4.jpg

Some of these have a fair number of parts. The transfer case above the right side circle is 14 parts. Thankfully it goes together fairly well.

Phil, I'll try to play more video games then and not get banished to the bench so much.

It'll be interesting to see how September goes when the kids are supposed to be back in school.

As Jeff said before, you are a machine Carl. Nevertheless highly inspiring work, implanting one, big, green squirrel into my brain :)

it looks like this :)

Progress from over the weekend. I painted the tires. I have them a dusting with Tamiya Dark Earth once they were done.

IMG_20200809_115800.thumb.jpg.83770dcbe1cd27c3013c006ff9e8f950.jpg

Hardest part was painting all the lugnuts. 30 per wheel, 20 in red and 10 in white.

IMG_20200809_184934_01.thumb.jpg.49f8967f0912f0db27d76dafdd46dde5.jpg

I also got the engine painted. I did it in grey to break up the overall dark yellow.

IMG_20200808_202231.thumb.jpg.8c7de32f1979f1e2d4ab12c90db29e2e.jpg

I then assembled the rad.

IMG_20200808_202220.thumb.jpg.c8996b3767d72fad0b57a8a829d9a4dc.jpg

Someone pointed out to Thunder Models that the kit rad didn't have enough folds in it so they made a new one and offered it to anyone who had the early issues of the kit. So I was able to get a replacement.

With the tires suitably painted, j started gluing them to the axles. I used epoxy for this so I could have the working time to make sure they were all level.

Sorry about the orange board but it's dead flat so that helps act as a reference point to keeping things level.

Once they were dry, I tested out the articulation. Still works.

I then painted the chassis of the tractor. Once the yellow was dry, I painted the rollers in silver to show the worn paint from cables being passed through them.

Lastly, I started assembly on the tractor's bogies.

The working Walking Beams are cool, I suspect they will also work on the tractor as well?  Nice job on the wheels , Carl....

Got a bit ahead of myself and glued the front tires on.

Might make it a bit harder to install some of the outstanding smaller details. Hopefully not.

I also took the chance to try a new airbrush out.

It's a stubby single action. I'm hoping it'll be good for doing squiggles in a consistent width.

For the size, it's got quite the weight to it. Almost the same as a full size airbrush.

Looks to be that the one in Sahara was an M3 Lee so a different turret. Otherwise I'm fairly certain that the hull is the same. The Grant had a turret built to British requirements. So a bigger bustle at the rear for a radio set. It also eliminated the commander's MG turret at the very top. Miniart do a Lee as well.

Time for an update. I decided to go ahead and install the rear tires on the tractor.

IMG_20200821_153831.thumb.jpg.7024400184733cbfc73dcd3df24be2a8.jpg

The suspension still has its full articulation which is kind of cool.

IMG_20200821_192423.thumb.jpg.b714c09606cd60648a1081890ea57ff5.jpg

On the Grant, I was test fitting the hull roof and thought I'd run into a bit of a fit issue. I ended up scrapping off part of the hull plate to "fix" the fit. Turned out I was wrong and had to replace the material I removed.

IMG_20200821_190840.thumb.jpg.4a40e04f53d5c136203b626a44be17d7.jpg

With the roof dry fitted after the repair.

IMG_20200822_110925.thumb.jpg.4598c141c7b911d5f168eab3c5c4383d.jpg

I'm also up to 43 links of track together. So I'm just over half done on one track.

I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical about the grey engine, but, not now, it is perfect, the contrast looks spot on, and from some of the old school English engines, it looks right on to me.. I LOVE that !
