  1. Mess is my surname... But some of you Guys' work areas would be enough to give my Oncologist fits!
  2. Trautloft (then later Lutzov) flew a late WNF G-4 that was upgraded to G-6 standard, but kept the early wheels. This would be perfect considering the resemblance to the original box art... Eagle Cals has it as an option on one of their 1/32nd scale sheets. (Edit: Sorry Gaz, hadn't realised that you've already decided a scheme.)
  3. Or if camo isn't important... From: "Modeller's Data file #10, SAM publications 2007" The last line in WNF section is actually Erla production. S
  4. How are you going to camo? This will decide the approximate Werk Nummer range, as the different early G-6 Manufacturers utilised dissimilar camouflage patterns.
  5. Don't sweat it Ernie. It's a pastime, and however you pass that time is your version of the Hobby. My bench is the Kitchen table, until I can convert the third bedroom into a Hobby room / Man cave. One kit only comes out at a time (Hasegawa Fw190 at the moment), and when I'm done gets put away and everything wiped down thoroughly. There are a dozen or so others started at different stages that call to me occasionally. I have this deal with the SWMBO, I get my own room eventually but have to keep it manageable and not encroach into the shared space too much... For this, she eventually gets a 600 litre tropical Fish tank. Give a little, take a little... S
  6. Standard propeller for the the Jumo 211 F & J motors was the VS-11. You would need the Ju87 D-3 Handbuch to confirm the specific 9-2xxxx blade number. The VS-111 was a later blade for the Jumo 213, fitted mostly to Ju88 variants and D-9's.
  7. Judging by the discussions occuring on multiple Forums, AK seem to have really shaken the tree with some of their conclusions and formulas. I would also be particularly interested in a review; to delve deeper into the Luftwaffe paint mixes, their compositions and the prevalence of Zinc Chromate in the late War colours. Managed to find this little reference elswhere, very interesting as it hints at the instability of Zinc Chromate as pertains to colour shift and chemical leaching after application. (Hint... think RLM 76 for instance) (Source: Organic Coatings: Science & Technology John Wiley & Sons, 2017)
  8. If the compound is still there after being bombed, you are probably fortunate there is still something to visit! As with all your Plinth-mounted works, looking forward to this one J.
  9. Yes, there is that school of thought. However, AK's apparent thorough research and analysis of extant Luftwaffe colours is completely at odds with their choice of colour for RLM 83, which is a complete guess based on what one particular Reseacher thinks it should look like, without an extant confirmed colour swatch or period sample.
  10. I have my doubts as well Jim... From a distance, their RLM 83 looks blue!
  11. Vegemite... a salty paste made from Yeast, a byproduct of the brewing process... which makes you thirsty, so you drink more beer... A vicious circle.
  12. I have only 3 modelling resolutions this year... 1. To do something model-related daily (hands-on, not research or Forum related). 2. To consolidate the stash, and clear some kits that I know I'll never build. 3. Finish one kit this year. My Wife has upped the ante, and promises to buy me a Detolf case to house it if I can do so. S
  13. An excellent subject for release. Now we have a smaller alternative to the Sd. Anh 116 trailer from the Tamiya Famo release in IM. I see one in my future in a derelict state, with a Fly Natter nestled on top!
  14. I think that thanks are also due to Jim and the Staff here, for making the offer in the first place. Ernie was treated pretty badly by a certain Staff member at another site, and put on moderation by the site Admin there for behaviour no worse than is deemed acceptable from other site Members. So I acknowledge the LSM Staff for valuing Ernie's productivity and comradery, and his contributions here as a Modeller and an all-round Good Guy, when others elswhere didn't deem him worthy to post a single word without their say-so.
  15. Congratulations Ernie... May your time as a staff member be: Like Water; powerful as the ocean, yet calm like a lake... Like the Sun; fierce and burning, yet lighting the way... Like Handcuffs; with a firm hold, yet pink and frilly like the one's my Wife has... Um, I should stop now.
  16. There are probably a few contributing factors at play here, although the poor Student Pilot is the only truly innocent party. The Driver should have stopped. But did she even know she was on an Airfield? The sign is poorly done, and there don't seem to be any corroborating signs to advise that she's meant to give way to Aircraft, and not Vehicles. Hopefully, everyone learned from the exercise.
  17. Mike Grant did some about a decade ago, they seem to be universally unavailable by now though. A shame to bin that one Ivan. My smoke ring technique is to hand brush a 50% custom mix of Tamiya acrylic and watercolour pencil, and feather the edges with very fine grit wet & dry sandpaper or an eyeshadow applicator... not for everyone though!
  18. On a side note Carl... What is your opinion of the AK book? I'm a member on a Luftwaffe-specific group, and some of the old hands there are less than impressed with the RLM interpretations. S
  19. Without involving specific personalities; what was more concerning was the condoning of the abuse and name-calling by that Site's staff, and then the implication that it was acceptable behavior when it was specifically raised as an issue in the thread. Keep posting the reviews here Nigel. Don't let the so-and-so's get you down.
  20. Well we had a good year in all. I stayed Cancer-free for another 12 months, and even managed to lose and keep off 10kg! The Sydney fireworks cocked it up this year and had us going back to 2018... time moves fast and we don't get to spend it again, so use it wisely people! I feel for you Gerhard, I knew a couple of Rhodie Farm families in the eighties who had to flee at basically a moment's notice, and ended up in my hometown in Queensland Au. I pray for safety and a worry-free 2019 for you Buddy. And a happy and prosperous new year for all. Steve
  21. Still have my copy, dog-eared pages and now sans jacket as it is. A wonderful resource from the late Mr. Merrick.
  22. Also works well on resin, as on this Quickboost part for the Revell Fw-190 (very slight pressure used here, in order to match the rivet detail of the Eduard Engine set Cowlings).
  23. 5:30pm, just walked in the door, about to start dinner. Hopefully some Würger work to follow later.
