I'll second that............................. -
Mike, this is more than museum quality...................... so precise, what are you using for reference?? This is absolutely spectacular.....................
-
I LIKE that ! I have a neighbor who could benefit from that Gnome

Harv.................. I'm trying to be a good boy here, and not poke fun at your discomfort.......................... I said I was 'trying", I didn't say I would be successful................... yes getting old sucks, and the stuff that can show up eh??.............................try and think back of nights that may have been put in the back of your brain, when a young Airforce sprog, was tearing it up with chicks like Delores............................you can talk to us , we are all your friends here and we promise not to tell Bev

Thanks Peter, yeah 97 is a milestone for sure.... he is still in his own home too....he has no idea how lucky he is... mom , on the other hand is in the hospital not doing too well, but they are both still here... yeah, there will always be another day to build a model.... I will pass on to him your good wishes, thanks , pal..

OK............. I'm here now, looks like a front row seat, with Harv....... Peter you move as fast as John does, LOTS done already, looking really good and straight...... -
Thanks Peter, great advice, I think I am beating myself up a little, seems some of this stuff ( 4 ageing parents ... my dad is 97 today actually ) takes a LOT of work to look after them and keep them where THEY want to be, my days are not mine for now....... the days left are precious, so I guess models will always be there, but others won't be, so excellent advice , thanks for the lift..... I am excited for your build...... it will help keep me focused...............

I couldn't do that .......................... oh I could 'try' but would end up with a box of very expensive shavings...................... very precise.............. and very sharp.......... I am a little perplexed as to why some of these fairly expensive kits always need , what looks like, a lot of reworking, it's all in the details, and these small adjustments make it museum quality........ I love what you're doing....... looks excellent...

THIS , is a very cool, build................definitely not the normal war bird.... I LOVE this....

I have no worries ( easy for me to say ) , this is going to be another EPIC build.............. cuss factor aside.......... maybe something with a British flavor??
-
I LOVE your intro, Peter................... sounds like an episode of Dr. Phil................ and I seem to be in that same dark place, I just can't get my poop in a group these past couple months.................. got a lot of family stuff going on, maybe that's the issue, BUT I, along with John , Harv and the rest of the guys are very glad you're back, I also missed your builds, posts, and good humor................... I don't have this kit, as it is a little large for any display, here, BUT I am most interested and as always will quietly lurk along, and hopefully pick up a few of your techniques, that I can apply to some of my attempts..... if I can get back to it, when things calm down around here....... glad you are back, and I am looking forward to watching this come together...... Canadian Typhoon?? "Changing the timing belt on my car'.................. Carl you're funny !!!

What a great tutorial..... the last bi-plane I 'rigged' was the old 1/28 scale Spad................. and it was many years ago,( in the '80's) also I did the the 'old fashioned' way, using black thread, and the old bees wax trick..................... I saw the kit a few years ago in a box, and the 'rigging' is still taught, and looking as good as the day I did it ( in my mind anyway), but probably way over scale and MOST DEFINITELY NOT to today's standards, and DEFIANTLY NOT to the skill level you are showing me here..... but it was a start....... so as I am very much a novice, what is 'stren #2', is that EZ Line as well?? I guess, I should actually step into the 20th century ( no, I'm still back in the 19th right now, a long way from the 21st at least), ................... and seriously look into this and at least 'try'?? Thanks for the great tips Gaz..... I will keep your advice for future reference .............. love your work.............
-
Well, that's cool.... I still can't wait to see what you do here, and maybe I can pick up a few skills and ideas............. it's the rigging...... that intimidates me , like many others..... I hear you on a cool scheme..... I'm all eyes.....

Genius ....................................... -
Apparently there is also a difference in the radiators and exhaust pipes between the real deal and the movie star..................... just curious, as no matter what scheme you choose , it is an interesting subject and will be colorful, and exciting to watch come together, I'm really into what you are going to do..... very cool project......

Where do you find all this stuff??? I could never source out the pics and info you do......................... phenomenal.................. -
Gaz, are you planning on making the 'movie' aircraft or an accurate Pfalz with lozenge cammo? Apparently the movie bird was somewhat different than the original Pfalz...... so I have read and understand.....
-
THIS is really interesting...... not a lot to do with your model work Steve................. ah er Gaz, but may be of some interest....... can you tell I like this movie? http://donhollway.com/bluemax

Ok, Gaz........................ you've got me for sure, I have seen that movie about 100 times and can recite the dialog almost verbatim, ( pisses Cathy right off) probably My ALL time favorite movie, yeah there is inaccuracies, and yeah the aircraft are not the real deal ( and all that other trite crapola I have heard over the years) BUT it is one of the BEST movies for it's time EVER !!!! " That was a full bottle Herr Lieutnant"...................................... "Yes".................................... So, I hope you don't mind, but I will lurk along, and take this in, my idea was to see if I could find the Roden kit of Stachel's Pfalz and do that, it even comes with "Bruno, and Kaeti" as well.............. Like "Willie" toasted in the mess to Bruno's lost kill,........................... Gaz, ............... for this build, .................." You must have 'witnesses' ...."
