  1. Ernie Just keep going at your own pace and enjoy the journey as you start to add all those assemblies and small parts. Yup, sun just beating down on all the upper surfaces while the aircraft are on deck. Looking forward to each update as the finish draws near.
  2. Mark Nice progress and glad KH's instructions under control
  3. Thanks Carl Just having fun and enjoy the build and a trip down memory lane.
  4. John Terrific work as always - Just love the NMF and overall finish - superb.
  5. John Gorgeous Mustang - beautiful and a terrific NMF. Always a pleasure to follow your builds.
  6. Ernie Only one thing to say; SWEET! A Big Bad Bruser for sure - just look at that nose!!
  7. One is listed on evilbay for $215. I don't remember what the going price was on SB or SH b ut I'm sure it was quite a bit less.
  8. Scott Never noticed but now hat you pointed it out, that is does. But also think back to the cars of that era as well and the tail fins - they all had that aerodynamic look - gotta love it.
  9. Chris Black Primer looks perfect and smooth as silk. Working is sections surely was the right way to go as most of the spry booths as just too narrow for the bigger models. Geez, I' breaking out my Artograph 1530 when I build the Lancaster as my small paint booth will never work. The Cat's fine detail looks awesome for sure. Everyone has their own favorites when it comes to primers and I've settled on just two over the years: MRP Black or Gray Lacquer primer - lays down smooth as silk. Tamiya Gloss Black for the NMF base. I'm 100% positive the quality of the primer finish is not the primer as most are all excellent, it's the modeler's pre paint preparation and painting technique. You easily have your prep and technique down pat - just look at the resultsâť—
  10. Chris I bought Waldron Punch Set around 1973, my first real modeling tool and it's still used all the time. I lost the case years ago and just keep it in a small Tupperware jar. Best modeling money I ever spent. I also have the RP Toolz Hex Punch Set - awesome quality but because it's so specialized, I do not use it anywhere as much. RP Toolz also make a round punch set, many more punch sizes, a much higher quality and pricier. For my money and needs over the past 50 years, the Waldron set is perfect.
  11. Kev Perfectly said and the way to go🏆
  12. Thanks Gaz, much appreciated. Painting is my favorite part of building.
  13. Thanks John I'm getting there and keeping an eye on being as careful as possible not to damage the raised panel lines.
  14. Oliver Steps look absolutely perfect and good thing you went to the club meeting - saved a lot of redo work.
  15. Chris Nice work on finishing up the Big Cat's interior and I do like the red toilet bowl cover - adds a nice bit of color and interest for those that know. Yup, something surely is out of alignment in the nose end ... fingers crossed it won't be too hard to correct.
  16. Mark Nice work on the console and absolutely looks better then any flat decal
  17. Thanks Mike Making progress a bit each day now. Finally started to glue up the two fuselage and halves and that turned out to be a lot more involved then I originally thought, as the space between the belly of the Kingfisher and the float is pretty narrow especially inside the cross braces. Surely seems a lot of very careful sanding and filling is going to be the oder of the day for quite a few days to come.
  18. Kev Nice going on the stanchions and the paint work on the hull looks so good. Terrific progress
  19. John Beautiful airbrush work. Were the black boarder stripes decals or paint? Looks like perfect masking.
  20. Thanks Chris I truly am amazed at how good the Monogram kits are, considering their age of pre computer and pre CAD - just good old pencil and paper engineering. Normally I work to a certain point and then set up to do the photography which takes me a good while - both shooting and in post (Lightroom and Photoshop). I really didn't have enough done to go through a full set up, so a few grab pics seemed to do the trick. I wasn't intending to any scratch work just go with what was in the kit but after test fitting, there is a nice size gap between the pilot's armor bulkhead and the fuselage. Looks as if I'll need to play around with some strip to fill it in. Also, on the far end of the gunner's station, the 30 cal points into the open fuselage and I was thinking of adding a few details to fill the empty space - see how it goes.
  21. Hubert Always something but between Yellow Wings and the kit decals, I should have a fighting chance 🤞
  22. Kev You hit it right on the head and I'm trying to build the kit OOB, as we would have built it back in the day.
