  1. Terrific choice for the GB. I built Tamiya's F4B when the kit first came out and a dream to build. Only issue was some hazing inside the canopy which was my own doings and should have gone with the canopies open.
  2. Ernie OMG, fantastic choice for the GB - will be following with a front row seat all the way.
  3. Kev Right with Gaz, your base looks terrific. I've learned the hard way, when things don't go as planned and there is a feeling of frustration in the air, tomorrow is another day.
  4. Gaz Some mighty impressive 'plastic persuasion' with the liberal use of Black CCA and kicker. Surely you have the E Boat kit under control and well underway.
  5. Terrific build. Just love to see these kits kit the bench and the results look fantastic. twenty-three F4's ... now that's a fantastic collection for sure.
  6. Chris I feel your pain with the masking. getting the mask you purchased to work, is going to be some delicate work. NO question in my mind, you'll pull it off just fine. I'm getting close to masking the Kingfisher glass and am going to have to do it the old fashioned way as I can't find a mask set at all. Thinking back, the 'good old days' when it comes to canopy masks was a skill we had to master as mask sets were decades away from being created.
  7. Carl Terrific new way of using Tamiya PLW's - the subtle effect works perfectly.
  8. Rob I'm a tool junkie and just admire your 'tools of the trade" 🏆
  9. James When I built my Tamiya Mossie, very little AM was offered and I was very pleased with the kit and front office.
  10. Kev I have to agree with you .. I followed the link to the ebay page and I too would have thought the barrels are metal.
  11. Chris Looking awesome and your progress is amazing. The Big Cat surely is HUGE! I'm with Hubert and Rob option #2. BTW, great to see how clean. neat and organized your work bench remained - that's a science unto itself. .
  12. Ernie Enjoying following your progress on the small bits and pieces and especially your thoughts on weathering. Lots to think about
  13. Rob Hard enough building a 1/350 early USN WWII battleship kit, adding all the PE and details but the kit molding surely created a 'boatload' of extra work. Nice start on the turrets and cannons. Agreed, the kit is going to test all your skills (which are up to the task) and will require a great deal of tools and time. Following all the way.
  14. Rob Awesome choice and a very involved project/ I'll be following all the way.
  15. Ernie Got to love it. Can't wait until my oncologist gives the ok to leave the house without a mask, as my abilities to make antibodies keeps improving. First stop .. my wife Diane and I are hitting the diner! Enjoy and what did you guys eat?
  16. Ernie I tend to keep stocking up on them for specific builds down the road. One of the reasons I prefer then over Red Fox (which I still want to try) is the seatbelts and extra details included.
  17. James I'm with Ernie about Quinta 3D decals for the interior and use them now for every build where there is a set. A few months back I finished the Tamiya Spitfire Mk XVIe and used the full Quinta Cockpit detail set -awesome for sure.
  18. I'll be waiting and will be following. Remember I'm 75, so don't take forever to retire.
  19. Hubert I've bought mine in the 1970's, use them for all these years (a good chunk of time I wasn't modeling and they were packed away) and not a spec of rust. Only wish the case was a bit beefier but for a tool to lasted all these years and still in perfect shape, they were one of my best purchases I ever made. The amazing thing is I never lost any of the punches. Could be the s/s was changed over the years to keep the cost down?
  20. Thanks for the info and absolutely something to consider for down the road. Is the there a build thread on the forum? Love to see your approach and build
  21. Excellent choice for your next build and will be following.
  22. Looking forward to your Tamiya Mossie build with great interest and enthusiasm. As to which scheme, I haven't a clue. I did mine many years ago when the kit first was released in RAF markings. For me, any RAF markings are the way to go.
  23. OMG, looking simply tremendous. Woodworking skills are way beyond my abilities and the workmanship is off the charts.
  24. Thanks Martin Glad you're on the bus for the journey down memory lane.
