  1. Sounds good John. Just always the case - a missing part at the worst time and Tamiya, whose customer service is excellent, is closed for inventory. Fingers crossed one of the guys has the part.
  2. John Nice start on the Birdcage. I looked through my meager parts box and haven't the part. Always room for another Corsair. Any idea of what the paint scheme is going to be yet?
  3. It's 19 F here and getting a lot colder tonight. Gaz .. AC ... now that sounds awesome
  4. Harv Nice work and twice as difficult for us old folk in just seeing the parts in the first place.
  5. Thanks guys .. always something to deal with weather wise.
  6. Carl Sure sounds mighty cold and our expected wind chill tonight and tomorrow will be below zero and that's way too cold for Long Island. These are the records no one wants to set ❄️❄️☃️
  7. Harv Same for us .. staying indoors as well
  8. Harv Here on the Island we are being hit hard by the storm. Lots of coastal flooding, high winds and a ton of rain. By 2 PM the temps are going to be in the teens and by tonight single digits and then throw in the wind chill - not my type of weather anymore. Supposed to last right through the weekend. Harv, rule one for us old folks - stay indoors and be safe.
  9. Rob My hands are nowhere as steady as they once were and I did a mix of free hand and some masks. I know there is a definite difference in the outline edge but as I continue doing the touch up work - a lot of the sharper edges are softened up. Next cammo paint job will be done one way or the other but not mixed. No primer is showing through but when doing touch up work with the brown paint, it seems to dry a bit lighter as it's so thin and is almost opaque in nature. I'll most likely go back and play with the edges using the green this time and the blend should be better.
  10. Thanks Gaz Finally looking like a P-40. Still need to do some touch up work but with the weather and storm we're in, no way to paint and vent until late this weekend. Just felt good to do the cammo and the juices are really starting to flow now.
  11. Wishing all a very Happy and merry Christmas ... And to all in the States being affected by this insane winter storm - stay safe and warm 🎅
  12. Chris Same here and you could have knocked me over with a feather when I saw the window glass. Both teardrop windows are now masked and ready for paint.
  13. Thanks Scott for the video and the Gundam Store for the locating jig
  14. Scott & Paul Have mine as well and still haven't used it. it's about time I follow your lead and start learning how to use it
  15. Thanks Oliver - starting to look like a real P-40 - can't wait to start decaling and adding all the markings.
  16. Harv Going to always look better with Barracuda resin added
  17. CAMMO – UNDERWAY Well, no time like the present to start working on the P-40’s cammo. I went back to my opening post for the build and prepared the Mr Color paints as per my research. During the build, I thought I might switch over to Mig Acrylics but not having much experience with them at this stage of the game, I stayed with Mr Color. I decided to free-hand a good deal of the cammo and see how it went. First I blocked out the tan and green areas to get me in the ballpark. Then with my H&S Infinity CR Plus air brush and a .2 nozzle, I started refining the cammo patterns. Not perfect but way better then I though this aging builder would do. Very little over spray and I see a bit of touch up work is still needed. I’m pretty happy with the results as where she stands right now. Hopefully in a day or two, I’ll mask out the gray undersides and then start thinking about the clear gloss and decaling.
  18. Martin Thank you for being the first to wish us all a Merry Christmas. For me the card is perfect, as nothing is better then a J3, even in Santa Red.
  19. Rob Lately it always seems to be one thing or another. Just glad you were able to remove all the blue tack and keep the Corsair on track. More important is resolving the water issue in your home. Hopefully it's not a leak or broken pipe. We had some scary plumbing issues at home the past few days and the plumbers did a good job resolving the issues and we're back to normal. Painting should be starting this afternoon as we look a major storm square in the eyes for the next 24 hours starting this evening. Heavy rain and wind gusts up to 60 mph
  20. Rob Looking mighty good and glad you've have resolved the issues. I'm still plugging along with the color cotes for the P-40 but unexpected house issues have put a stop to any work for a while. 🙁
  21. Ernie Got ya. Just feel the instructions should be more definitive on where and how parts go.
