  1. Most likely I'll be going with the Revell. Momogram 1/48 Kingfisher.
  2. Fran Just one of those kits that in my opinion are way over engineered with way too many never to be seen detail parts. Just my feelings as I work my way through the kit.
  3. Carl Still are amazing kits and absolutely so well worth the cost.
  4. Chris Terrific progress on the Swallow. Nice touches with the air brush work on the exhaust - has just the right look and a great tip on using tape to keep track of the antenna wires, especially at my age, seeing those details is getting harder and harder. IP does look good.
  5. Kriss Terrific build, awesome paint work and finish
  6. Beautiful finish work and a terrific touch with the light weathering.
  7. Carl OMG, has to be close to a record for the number of sprues and parts. Terrific work on the pre-shading and I'm taking notes on tiring it out in places on the P-40.
  8. Thanks Rob. much appreciated There is a lot of quality with the kit but the negatives and 'non helpful' orientation drawings in the instructions, have greatly demised the value of the kit in my eyes. I can see digging into a limited run kit like Ernie's Helldiver and knowing you will be facing a lot of corrective work but for a kit costing what the P-40 did, I would have expected more. Great intensions and in my view, just over engineered and all those hidden details, just don't understand why.
  9. Thanks Gaz, getting there a little bit at a time. There are times the mojo is missing and I don't want to get anywhere near burnt out, so I just walk away for a few days until the juices return.
  10. Phil Exactly. Just can't understand why so many manufacturers waste resources on hidden details that will never be seen and have a habit of causing all sorts of fit issues as well. I'm still working and fixing a few goofs on the wing and then looking at all the plumbing GWH's wants you to add to the underside of the airplane - not going to add any at all, as not a bit of it will be seen. talk about ridiculous and hidden details.
  11. Gaz Looking so good. Nice work on scratching out a new DF Loop Antenna - looks really good. What a brilliant idea for using Bob Buckles as hooks to attach the antenna wire wires - might just try it on the P-40. BTW, the aerodynamic wooden fairing/antenna on the left front wing, modeling wise looks so good but in the flesh, it looks like an easy accident waiting to happen. Takeoff and landing with the stick a bit too far forward or a bit of a bounce you just might hit the ground with it and ground loop the 109 or even worse. They had a bad enough reputation for takeoff and landing accidents with the gear being so tightly close together.
  12. John Awesome paint work as always - looking so good.
  13. Ernie Looking so good and the level of work you are taking the kit & parts to is off the chart and looking so good. Glad you're back to whipping the "Beast" into shape.
  14. Mark Nice choice for your new build and I'll be following all the way. Lot's more to building big rigs then I ever thought - loads of resin and PE - Holy Smokes, going to be fun for sure
  15. Fran Looking forward to your/review. The kit has a load of promnse and should be a huge seller.
  16. Ernie Nice to see you and the Big Helldiver together again at the bench and making progress.
  17. John Right with Carl ... looking mighty good.
  18. So glad you 'found the missing parts' and the G55 is underway again. Looking simply fantasic.
  19. John Priming and masking look good. Looking forward to seeing the Twogar wearing this colorful scheme.
  20. Yup, typical Special Hobby and does need a lot of care. The front office is tricky and the landing gear is as frustrating as it gets.
  21. I'm sure when I go, almost everything will be headed for the land fill as except for my twin brother, no one in my family has the slightest interest in my modeling. My cameras are a different story but who knows what the future holds
  22. Ernie A Piasecki H-21 Shawnee - can't wait to see the kit.
  23. Terrific progress on an extraordinary kit that does present a lot of issues for the builder. I too have been following Nigel's build and according to him, the seam does belong but not a gap. A lot of what Nige talks about is in his opinion, which I feel is correct, is when Border took possession of the model/molds, WNW still needed to resolve a lot of issues with the complicated kit and creating a set of their famous instructions which most likely would have gone into more detail on issues like the gap. Still, an amazing kit.
  24. Harv Right with the rest of the guys and number four in line. Looks good - how about the Cougar grabbing some bench time - Just love those Iron Work Gang Panthers and Cougars
