  1. Holy chit man! How do you find the photos?? BTW... the top pic is an A-6.
  2. No sir.... Horst Sternberg
  3. Hola compadres! A couple days ago I applied the first coat of RLM 65. Today it was the turn of the RLM 02 and RLM 71. I know...yer sayin': "WTF! should be 75/75/76". Well.... the early ones came out just as the colors were changing. And supposedly they were painted at the unit level. So this leaves a window to use a different scheme than the other two 190;s in my stash will receive. Nobody knows fer sure. The RLM 65 and 71 are MRP undilluted so far. I'm a post-shader, so things will look different, later. The RLM 02 is a mixture of ever-changing shades of that color, mixed from other Tamiya paints. Here, I'm trying to use the 02 that appears a tad brown. There is a lot to do. I'll allow the color to dry for a day or so... and then I can apply the rib tapes on the control surfaces. Heh... I have tons of WNW rib tapes.
  4. Looks great, Carl!

    WNW?

I went the hard way about it for the photos I wanted. I took screen shots, and then cropped and saved them using MS paint. But at least I'm covered if the site vanishes tomorrow. I only did it for the kits I could see myself doing in the future.

    WNW?

Personally... I think they are gone for good. The Molds... who knows. Are they in a warehouse in China? Have they been melted down for scrap? Will they turn up in somebody's barn in 75 years? Who can tell. I'm sure the web server was set up on a contract and it hasn't expired yet. So... get copies of those fantastic historical photos while they are still there.
  7. What deviltry is this!?!?! How did they get coal into a warship back in the day of steam? One big hatch and a big funnel, you are guessing? Nope! One bag at a time. Through little hatches in the deck, all around the ship. Großer Kurfürst has... I'm guessing... like 130 to 150 coal chutes. There are a few grouped in twos, threes, and fours. But most are like these single chutes I've attached to a loop of blue masking tape. As you can see I have gone about half way through cutting them from the fret.
  8. Have they told you to have one glass of wine a day?
  9. Thank you, Rob! Yeah... I don;t use the Dremel often. It's easy for a part to get spun away by the bit, even at 5K rpm.
  10. Now that is confusing. Some sites that show lots of Luftwaffe planes are getting hammered for Swastikas. I've been waiting for the Facebook police to kick me for some of my model images.
  11. Looks good, Frank! Would love to see some close-ups when you are ready.
  12. With Tender care, using the back edge of a knife, and my one very fine razor saw blade I was able to detach the kit gear covers without stuffing them up. Yesterday I devoted some time to trying to find period photos. I found a couple as well as some pics from a restored bird. Both sets were different which causes me to believe that either different versions were made of these covers, or that the ones on the restored bird are wrong. Anyway... you can see my results. I milled them using my Dremel and the round holes, a pin vise and drill bit. They are glossy because I gave them a coat of Tamiya extra thin to smooth out the places I can't. The black stuff is black CA where I accidentally went through with the Dremel.
  13. Hey mate, how do I find this on FB? I have this kit by Dragon and any details will of course be most useful.
  14. You are all missing out. For, in between of the useless twaddle and Facebook irritations, people in your groups will submit thousands of photos you have never seen before, many of which are useful modelling references. Since joining FB over 2 years ago, I've collected thousands of images that will aid me in modelling. Avoiding FB is like walking past a library in the 1970's and saying that there are too many other books in there which will prevent you from finding what you want.
  15. Yes, I am still building Großer Kurfürst. But I've just had 4 days of non-building due to tiredness after work. I am often thus afflicted on workdays. So I build in spurts. The ship is more of a long term thing, and I've got some work to do on the FW 190... I've decided to cut out the closed LG covers and replace them with scratchbuilt items. The Sturmgeschutze is still there... but right now I have FW 190 on the brain.
  16. Hate to say it, but this is the kind of stuff the scientists have been talking about the last ten year. Meanwhile... petrol in Australia will be as low as S1.06AUD on Wednesday and as high as $1.57AUD Friday through Monday.
  17. Thank you, Kai! I don't really do everything. I have limited interest in things that don't have guns. No transport planes. No sports cars. Did a Horch when I was a kid, but I didn't really feel thrilled by it. If you haven't done a WNW kit, you really should try one. Do you have any in your stash?
  18. Great work, Rob! Now it looks potent and beautiful!
  19. That cockpit looks nice, Kai! I look forward to watching you build this one.
  20. Thank you, Peter! Hopefully someday you will.
  21. Glad you're out, Harv!
