  1. Enough was enough. Two weeks of muscle relaxers, Motrin and Tylenol just wasn’t cutting it. I’ve been carrying around the name of a highly recommended chiropractor for over a year now and finally gave in. Called them up and they told me to get down there ASAP. I hobbled into his clinic like a cripple and came out feeling like Fred Astaire ready to dance to my wife waiting out in the car. He did warn me to not get too excited. This will last 24-48 hours and it will start moving out of joint again. Apparently I’ve been living with my right SI joint out of whack for a few years now. He warmed me up, gave me shock therapy to loosen up things and then twisted me up like a pretzel and popped things back into place. Not only the SI joint, but two vertebrae in my mid thoracic were out of place and a spot in my neck. Made an appointment for additional adjustments for Thursday and Saturday morning. As he put it, it’s been out of whack for a while. It wants to stay out until he keeps putting it back in place for a while. This whole time I was thinking it was my spinal stenosis from where I had laminectomies done on L2-3 & L4-5 back in 1999. This guy was good. Just talking to me he knew it was not this area and he did tests proving my stenosis is not really causing me the pain issues I thought they were. Hopefully in the morning I’ll know if I can spend time back at the bench.
  2. Ok, gonna have to smack you down for that one. KR was ‘68. But since you mentioned ‘69 GT500…. I thought I broke the speedometer in this one back when I was young and foolish. Back around 1982. It was my brothers car (him in the photo) I had just gotten new tires installed and I was driving home and I suddenly noticed the road in front of me was all mine. I pegged the 140 speedometer and held my foot on the go pedal. When I let off, it stayed on 140. All I could think was “Oh crap! I broke the speedO and now my brother will know I maxed it out.” After 10-15 seconds (yea, ok. Maybe not that long, but it sure felt like it) of my foot off the pedal the needle finally started dropping. I’d love to know just how fast I was going that day. But I will say, the lane lines become a solid line at that speed. I missed out on Mopars growing up. Like Ernie, I was a Ford guy (almost) all my life. I did shortly own a hot Rodded ‘73 Z-28. When I was kid back in 1970 there was two cars that sparked my love affair with cars. One was a brand new dealers demo car from a Ford dealership nearby. It was a ‘70 Boss 302. Gold with black stripes, window slats and that beautiful shaker hood scoop. The other was a guy in the Navy down the street that bought a brand new Vitamin C Orange 1970 Roadrunner with the air grabber hood. He installed Craiger SS wheels. If I win the lottery, I will own those two cars.
  3. Ok, this is way beyond cool! Syfi meets reality. I’ve often thought about doing a modern aircraft refitted with old Merlin’s, radials or just automotive V8 engines or vintage aircraft with modern jet engines and making it a cross between steampunk meets Max Max apoplectic world.
  4. Impressive! I’ve yet to build one Corsair. Wait, does the A-7 Corsair count?
  5. LOL! I’m not GT Resin. But I do know Gary Hatherly and he now lives in the town I grew up in. I picked up the “ScottsGT” handle back in the day when I needed a name on The Vintage Mustang forum when I started restoring my 1966 Mustang GT. That was back around 1999. Funny thing is, I still have the ‘66, but I’m on my 3rd Mustang GT currently.
  6. Reading this got me motivated to spend more money. Just ordered masks (Eduard though) for the He 111, Ju 87 and my last T-6 Texan kit.
  7. Thanks for the pics! Glad you didn’t post these earlier, I’d be trying to completely rework the office!
  8. Crap. I cannot believe I missed this. Looks like a huge ejector pin mark. I’ll tackle this flub up next week and see if I can smooth it out some.
  9. Progress! But short lived. Off to the mountains of NC in the morning for more skiing and tubing fun. Well, not for the wife. This will be a kids trip. Kids and grandkids that is. But here’s where I’m at. Those fuselage gaps though. Oooff! Gonna be some work to smooth them out and fill in the sink marks where the alignment pins and holes are at.
  10. 1 minute? Didn’t know it existed. I used 5 min.
  11. That was not easy. Looks simple, but it was like trying to juggle bowling balls. Plastic would have been easier since glue works faster.
  12. I rarely let my cat in my lap while building. I do my best to keep him at bay, but somehow his tiny micro sized kitty hairs wind up in my paint work. I need to find an air filter/purifier that moves the air and grabs his floating fuzz.
  13. And I got to piddle around a little at the bench today before the back started reminding me I shouldn’t be sitting forward. Now talk about a complicated Rue Goldberg tail wheel…this is a brass G Factor so I had to piece it together with epoxy. Would have been easier with 4 hands but the putty helped hold things in place so I could slap on the other half of the fuselage so it cured in place.
  14. I read it was somewhere around ‘41. This build is set for 1940 decals so I should be ok.
  15. Nice! Just picked this kit up myself and I think it might be next.
  16. Have you not seen my build threads? If I’m brave enough, so are you! But yea, some of the builds here make me want to just throw my stash away.
  17. Patton was the only movie we ever went to as a family when I was growing up. Matter of fact, I think that’s the only movie I ever remember my dad going to. Mom took us to see ET. Other than those two, we were just dropped off and picked up after. I remember growing up I had chronic ear infections in my left ear. We lived about 20 miles from the AFB clinic. Mom dropped off me and my brother for a movie at the base theater. During the movie it hit me hard. Ear felt like it was going to explode. When she picked us up, told her to drive straight to the clinic. A monthly occurrence until I got tubes in my ears at 13 yo.
  18. No pics, but just got in my Zotz decals for the soon to be released A-20 J/K and a separate order from Hobby Nut with a Quinta Stuka interior and I found a fancy little tool made by Gunze to remove the lid off stuck Mr. Color paints. Also has a cup you drop the bottle into to grip it better. Yea, I’m gonna love this on days my arthritis is kicking in.
  19. Just a follow up after this morning Dr. Appointment. They removed the cast for current X-rays. The break is healing well, but because she was boarder line going into surgery, he made her go back into a hard cast for another two weeks. She hated it when I just told her at least she’s getting her moneys worth out of her knee scooter we bought.
  20. I use to work at a movie theater. Does that count? Somewhere I have the original movie poster for Midway and I think Tora,Tora,Tora. Fun fact, I also worked there with now Senator Tim Scott that ran for President and is on the short list for VP with Trump. When Tim announced he was running, first thing that came to me was, “Whaaaaa…Tim, you’re too nice of a guy to wallow this deep in the mud with the pigs.” If you’ve ever heard the story of the Chick-Fil-A owner that mentored him as a young man, I knew him as well. He actually lived in the same neighborhood as my in-laws.
  21. Bench time is on hold temporarily. Working on the hot tub steps I over did it a little. I’m having back spasms that are wanting to hang around a little longer than expected. Tried sitting at the bench but the spasms kept causing Tourette’s type four letter words. So here I sit in my recliner and the wife in hers with her cast on her leg. What a fine mess we’ve gotten ourselves in! Strange thing is, back was worse yesterday but sitting at the bench wasn’t a problem.
  22. Just a tip on what I learned this week painting my G Factor brass gear on my He 111. I did the typical prep with polishing off the casting seams and sanding them down to 600 grit. Whipped out my trusty Mr. Surfacer primer and blew on a couple of coats. Came back the next day to do some fine sanding. Primer was flaking off everywhere the sandpaper touched it. I could easily remove it with my fingernail. Dangit! I forgot Mr. Surfacer is formulated to bond to plastics and other paint. Wiped it all off with lacquer thinner and went out to my garage and grabbed a spray can of self etching Krylon primer. Funny thing is, it was almost a perfect match for RLM 02 Laid on one to two thin coats and all is good now. Mr. Color stuck to it with no issues.
  23. Ok Rob and Carl, I submitted. I just ordered a couple sets of the WWII USAAF colors. All the Navy and Marine colors were sold out at Andy’s.
