Thank you! Exactly what I was thinking.

Same here, Hubert. But I did come close when the 1/48 B-36 kit came out. Yea, I have a few that have gone up in value. Hell, I about passed out when I found a Fisher Connie nose correction in the stash. I knew I had bought the corrected radomes, but forgot I bought the nose correction. Saw one on evilbay fetch $185. It’s just a little bigger than a thimble! I’ve got a set of G-Factor F-18 landing gear. I bet I could get $100 for them now. Nope. Going on my kit when I build it.

Same reason I’m hesitant to build my Tamiya Thunderbird. I hate that feeling. Build?Sell? Build?Sell? It’s like having the little devil and angel sitting on your shoulders telling you what to do. Speaking of Legos…My son sent me this yesterday. This hung above his brothers bed for many years. When the wife repainted their bedroom after they moved out, I’m pretty sure she tossed it out.

That would be awesome, Carl.

Okay, click bait title. But isn’t the Eduard P-40N the Hasegawa kit with a few Eduard goodies and special decals added? When it came out years back I thought the price of admission was pants on head stupid. But now they’re asking $250 for them on eBay. Wow…… Yea, now regretting not buying one when they came out. 😢 And don’t get me started about the K and M models. (Or the Parrot Head N) I figured since Hasegawa is a mainstream kit company these kits would always be out there in abundance. yea, I have an E model going on the bench as soon as the Cutlass is in the display case. So my random thoughts and ramblings have merit.

Wow! In typical Reskit fashion, the details are amazing. Should have bought these the day I started the build. of course we leave town tomorrow for the wife’s continuing education conference in Asheville, so it won’t be until next weekend before I can get to work on these.

What is on your bench right now ? Share a picture :)

Also could be the age of the kit. I’ve built a few older Revell kits and one thing I have noticed is the larger surface areas tend to warp over time with their kits. My last F-14 had the same issue as Carls did. The VX-4 bird I built years back fit together like a puzzle. It suckered me into a second 🤪 Years ago I got my hands on an old 1/72 space shuttle kit. Might have been a Monogram. But it sat in an attic, in South Carolina for only God knows how long. It was literally unbuildable. No amount of clamps or rubber bands would pull it back into shape. -
I’ve got an old friend that had done very well in life renting out porta-John’s. Funny thing is, his name is John as well.

We’ve got some chickens in the Charleston area that have come home to roost here of late. Seems that all the shoddy construction and planning has caught up and lawsuits are starting to fly. AC systems that barely keep the house at or below 80 degrees during the hot summer and then Tropical storm Debby came through last week and houses are getting flooded due to improper drainage built into the infrastructure when they were laying out the neighborhood. We’re talking hundreds of houses due to the real estate explosion in the area over the past 5 years. What’s even more amazing is these builders already had a bad reputation but people still bought. Oh, and Rog, better call the police to keep an eye on the place. There’s a suspicious character snooping around.

Thanks for posting this. You just took me down a rabbit hole of memory lane. I saw your build and had to Google the one and only semi truck/trailer I built as a kid. I think I might have been 10-12 yo. I bought the old SONOCO trailer and truck combo kit. I see that Round 2 has reintroduced the tanker trailer once again. So tempted….but I know better.

Thanks Hubert. But no need now with the Reskit stuff on the way.

Okay, I just threw in the towel on these Sparrows that came with the kit and ordered the Reskit set. As I was repainting the rear fins yellow, I just was not happy with how warped some of the fins were. One or two I might be able to hide by placing on the inside, but more and more kept popping up. This morning I dropped them all in a pot of boiling water and they flattened out. But as the day went on, the warps were coming back. I’m just going to proceed with the build as I can and when I’m done, I’m done. It’s just too damned close now to throw all the hard work I did away with some ganked up looking missile fins. It’s one thing to skip a few details being added like Hubert is doing. But to intentionally used warped up parts that I can replace for $20 is pants on head retarded. Especially when I’ve already invested around $350 in the kit.

Just got an SOS from my daughter. Kids are sick and they need my help watching them tomorrow from noon until 4. Yea, looks like I’m gonna get sick now too. 🙁 And I noticed those rear fins are actually yellow. Back down to the paint booth….
-
BTW, I’m hoping I can have this wrapped up by the weekend before I leave town again. If not it’s going to become an unfinished project in the display case. I’m so ready to move on to something else. Zero patience left.

You’re killin’ me Hubert! I almost ordered the Reskit set but decided to proceed with these.

I think I’m going to try out Flight-Metal instead of BMF. RC guys use it. It’s .0018 thick. Just a hair thicker than heavy duty kitchen foil. If I could get the micro sol adhesive to work I’d be tempted to try that.
-
Ugh…. Snails pace here. Just half the fins. I feel like Jimmy Buffet. Fins to the right, fins to the left.
-
Cool! Thanks for the info!! Now I gotta get my BMF technique on!

Hubert, one of the things I was reading, and since you’re a great wealth of knowledge and can help me on this, was the F-105 Thunderbird. I was thinking it was natural aluminum finish, but read somewhere it was painted silver? I have the kit and decals along with the B nose to do this one - one day. If it was natural metal, I’d like to replicate that.
-
Yes, funny you ask this because I was going over some future builds in my head last night and one of the things I read in the past was early jets that everyone assumed was bare metal were actually painted silver. F-105, F-100, F-86, etc.
-
Always wanted one of these kits. Maybe one day. Going to follow this one!

Project Bullseye! Rumored to have been seen by a few, but no photographic evidence. I picked up this kit many years ago on the cheap. Came in a smaller cardboard shipping box since the kit box was so big. I think I have the hard to find Caracal decals set for it too.

Well I couldn’t help myself again. One of the popular online gun shops were selling police trade in gen 2 Glock 17’s for $200. The catch was chipping at the Magwell opening from hitting seat belts and desks. Of course add in sales tax, shipping and transfer fee at my local FFL along with an aftermarket magwell it’s now a $300 Glock 17. How I got it After the eBay magwell.

Nice haul Carl. And all I got today was a Quinta cockpit for my next build.
