  1. You know, the airbrush cleaner is the same thing as their glue you bought? I quit buying the glue and just refill my glue bottle with the cleaner. There’s a YouTube video where a guy looked up the safety data sheet. It made up of two chemicals. The only difference was the glue has something like 2% more of one of the chemicals than the cleaner. Like cleaner is 50/50 and glue is 48/52. But I’ve never had any issues using straight cleaner.
  2. And please, if you’re a praying person, thoughts and prayers to those in Western NC. The tiny town of Chimney Rock is gone. Like nothing left but cleared land where it once was. Son’s future MIL is trapped on their land due to all roads in and out washed away.
  3. I’m really thinking hard about getting the one for the Academy CH-53E kit I have.
  4. From what they’re predicting, that floating dock on the left will be against the main dock roof. On my lift there’s an electrical box that has all the controls for it. This box usually takes me an 8’ ladder to reach it. Yesterday I unbolted it and swung it around to the back side of the pole and roped it in place. The floating dock would have smashed into it and busted it up pretty bad. My fear now is morons that just gotta get in their boats and ride around kicking up wakes causing further damage to docks. DNR needs to close off the landings to everyone but residents trying to get boats out.
  5. Woke up to 105.3’ this morning. Never thought I’d see the railing posts under water. Edit: And still rising.
  6. Well, we sat in the boat playing cards under the lift until the water was high enough to back it out. Success!
  7. Left us a little extra water. and projected to go 3’ higher. Sitting here watching it and waiting for another foot to get the boat off the lift. Yea, no power too so I can’t drop the lift.
  8. I have no idea why I said drooping in flight. 🤪
  9. Translated… I also have the Sherman in the same scale, this one is finished but it is in a cellar, No room for it
  10. On ARC. Chris is shutting it all down permanently due to health reasons. Hand surgeries, arthritis has taken its toll. After reading about Pastor John’s troubles, mine, Chris’….seems that building models has become a dangerous hobby. I suggested he could license his work to be produced by other companies and at least get royalties from his work. Hint, hint BiggTim.
  11. Crap….wife just got a text from the neurosurgeon. Said he looked at the latest MRI. Not good. He said my surgery is going to be bigger and longer than expected looking at the old MRI. He’s scheduling us an appointment ASAP. 😢 Edit: Tuesday morning consult scheduled
  12. My wife brings me those home. But with a Maine Coon kitty, it’s a useless effort. I do my best to tack rag down the model, but halfway through the painting the fuzz starts showing up.
  13. For some reason Italeri decided to go with the non Pinocchio nose version, which was accurate. But I’d rather build the odd.
  14. I thought I’d never be lucky enough to post this…. But after searching for over 10 years, Rare Plane Detective listed this on eBay. I put a stupid high bid on it, and even went back and raised my bid higher within the last hour. After the hammer dropped and shipping and taxes I paid $65 for it. No way in hell was I going to go cheap and miss out. Now I can finally pull that DC-130 from the stash and build it!
  15. Well when you build a shrine to HKM, you don’t want distractions. I had an HKM shrine at my old home. Yea, there’s a Hobby Boss infiltrator in there.
  16. Yea Chris, it’s great to see some improvement. But as I told the PT guy, I’m still going through with the surgery. Just make me strong as you can so recovery is easier. The silver lining to this is that it tells me that the nerve damage isn’t 100% permanent.
  17. Update with some improvement! Started PT this week and the therapist gave me a simple seated bend over exercise that would help open the disc spacing. Started Tuesday and I’ll be damned. By Thursday I was walking without my cane. Even better, last night getting up in the middle of the night for my bathroom trips I didn’t need it. Night time and the mornings were my worst.
  18. Well, we’re already home now. But our son was in Chester, near Richmond. He’s actually packing up to leave right now and heads this way tomorrow or Friday. Then we jumped over to Brownsburg near Lexington. Our youngest daughter lives there. They just bought their first home. A really neat 98 yo house. It’s got character. The town is a tiny, quiet little village in the rolling farmland hills.

  20. Wow Ernie. This takes things to a whole new level of “I hope this project doesn’t end up on the shelf of doom!” Then again, it was already on someone’s SOD. The radial engine will be awesome! Congrats on the project.
  21. I remember being almost a kid but yet an adult looking up to the older docs as knowledgeable and experienced. They were always older than me. Now I’m looking at this young guy that’s about to go inside my body and fix things and I keep telling myself I’m glad I don’t have some old guy set in his ways doing this procedure like it was 1989 still. He’s talking about all of the technology they use to see things while they work and it reminds me of a soldier in the field using night vision.
  22. Sad post time. 😢 I spent the past few days out of town thinking of everything I must get done before surgery hopefully in early November. I’ve decided that I needed to pack up the P-40 for now and step away from the bench and get a few projects done. My bench until I’m on the road to recovery….. So basically I’m looking at surgery 6 weeks out from now, maybe 7. I’m not going to pretend to be John and knock a kit out before then. We have two cruises scheduled before then, I still need to hang the new 65” TV we bought a few months back on sale, fall yard project that need to be done before I’m down and out, boat maintenance needed and the waverunner needs to come out and get stored away for winter. And I haven’t even mentioned that I’m starting PT Tuesday, MRI later this week, follow up pre surgery appointments, possible steroid injections…see where this is going? I’ll still be hanging out here harassing those that get out of line and trying to egg on others to be bad too. But no glue sniffing for a while.
  23. Pretty cool!
