  1. Those pictures were before I added the flat clear coat
  2. Here is my P-40F "Checkertail" build. I started this about 8 mths ago. Also have a Trumpeter Thunderbolt P-47 razerback checkertail. And working on a Tamiya P-51D checkertail. So let me know what you think. Thanks Ron G.
  3. Hey all Just a thought on my part. The engines in the B-24's were P&W R-1830 dual 7 cylinder radials. The ones in the kit are a pretty poor representation of them. You can get resin replacements for them, but they are expensive. I found out that the B-24, DC3 and the Grumman Wildcat all had the same engines. So I went on the internet and found on Ebay the engine sprue for Trumpeters 1/32 Wildcat kit for I belive $17.00 bucks. It's fairly well detailed, the only thing that needs to change from the Wildcat to the Liberator engine is the front gear case, it has twin magnetos and the engines in the Lib only had a prop pitch regulator on the top of the gear case. The magnetos were on the rear of the engine. Its a simple fix, snip, snip some filling and sanding and adding the prop regulator. I'm working on it know when I get to a point I'll show pictures of what I'm talking about. You can Google the R-1830 and see the photos. And Wikipedia will show the P&W R-1830 and show which planes had them. Ron G.
  4. Hey Nige Not being a Lancaster affisanodo, can you show what is the part of the under carriage you are talking about in this picture. Thanks
  5. This set is absolutely amazing. I think its even better then Eduard. And Nige I saw your videos on YouTube and they show the detail of the product well, which my help someone make the decision to spend the money it takes to purchace one of these large kits. Ron G.
  6. Hey Nigel Could you post a picture of what you are talking about with landing gear. I don't do facebook. I have only looked at my kit when I opened it Christmas morning, so haven't had a chance to thourally go through it.
  7. Fantastic job James I'll be lurking around on this one to see how you do, it seems you have this one in the bag. I have the kit and Petes instrument panel kit also the gun barrels. Waiting to find out what else I will need to finish this magnificent big bird. I'm going to be doing ME669 ZN-O Sgt. Norman C. Jacksons plane. I have somebody making me code letter & serial number masks. So keep up the great work we are all waiting with batted breath. Ron G.
  8. Hey all Got the Hobbyboss 1/32 B-24J & the HKM 1/32 Lancaster mk1 and a Tamiya 1/32 A6M2 Zero. Also got the brass machine gun barrels for the Lanc also airscales dash panel kit for it and realistic metal exhaust for the zero.
  9. I had to preorder them to get the deal. Which he said when I ordered them was $149 for the B-24 & $219.00 for the Lanc. When he called and said they were in he said that his importer gave him the wrong price, and said that the Lanc would be $379.00!!! I said thats not what you told me we went round and round he said the best he could do was $245 which was still $144.00 cheaper then the lowest price I could find on the internet plus a two to three week wait. So I said yes and the wife stopped by and got them had to wait two weeks till Christmas to open em but it was well worth it.
  10. Hey Clunky I got mine at a local brick & mortar hobby shop here in Michigan. The B-24 was $149.00 and the Lanc was $245.00 so $394.00 total out the door! The wife got them for me for Christmas. I've looked at both, but haven't started them yet, still have 20 other 1/32 kits to do before I start on them (I also need to find a place to put em). Was disappointed with the Hobbyboss B-24 frt. & rr. turrets, but it won't stop me from building it. Going to try and polish out the frt. and fix the joint issue on both. To bad all Hobbyboss had to do was create them like the top turret and there wouldn't be an issue. The Lancaster is amazing, four merlins to build and detail!!! I got the brass gun barrels for it, also picked up a set of the ones for HK's B-17G there the same as the B-24. Happy holidays Ron G.
