What is on your bench right now ? Share a picture :)

All those lovely Ford pics Martin posted made me want to build one. So here's a flat head V-8 This is for the Thunder Models LRDG patrol truck. The axles has separate shackles. Craziness. -
I didn't know but do recall seeing his name on a couple forums. Condolences to his family.

I think that's due to the modularity of Hasegawa kits. They can easily throw in /take out the required sprues and get a different variant. Also, many folks speculate that Hasegawa has decided to focus on their domestic market. Just look at their recent releases: JDM cars, mecha, and Egg Girl figures. So if the N version didn't sell well there, I can see their reluctance to re-issue it. We need to get Hobby 2000 or Revell to do a re-box and then we'll have some for the rest of the world.

F-15DJ Kai or Eagle Plus- Finished!
BlrwestSiR replied to BlrwestSiR's topic in The Great Twins Broup Bluild
Thanks Martin! This was one of those "can I pull it off?" builds for me. I'm very happy with how it turned out. I don't think I've done such a complex scratch/conversion before and for sure not in 1/32. Now to build the display case. Carl -
I've built some kits that I have foolishly checked the price on after I started them and almost made me want to cry. I was partway through building a Yamato 1/3000 SDF-1 kit from the Macross anime. I'd bought it for maybe $150. So when I looked online and found they were now $1,000-1,200 I had to shrug my shoulders and keep going. Lego is even worse. I had their Technics Porsche RSR and just sort of lost interest in building it. Our youngest was going through a bit of a rough patch so I let him build it. Building it really helped to give hims something positive to look forward to every day. When he was done, he wanted to do another so we looked it up. Turned out it was discontinued and was now a collector's item selling for over $1,000. The happiness and sense of pride he got out of it was worth way more than that.

Yup, it's the Hasegawa plastic with some extra bits including a stamped metal plate. I have one in the stash here somewhere. The funny thing is, the original P-40N box with the 15,000 markings was a slow seller. About a year after it came out, HLJ had them on clearance . They still weren't selling so they then offered heavily discounted shipping on your entire order if you bought one. So I did, and then had no idea what to do with it. Finally Zotz did a decal sheet for them and I built it. I think it's at my parents' place. Then someone traded me one and again I had no idea what to do with it. Ended up trading it to another member. As for the K I just picked one of those up from the flood sale. It has both an E and K tail so if do a regular E, I'll let you know if you want the K tail.

Forgot to say, you don't see many FoST or FiSTs around any more. Seems like they've all disappeared.

F-15DJ Kai or Eagle Plus- Finished!
BlrwestSiR replied to BlrwestSiR's topic in The Great Twins Broup Bluild
Gus, the Eagle is a big bird that's for sure. For now it's sitting on top of one of my shelves in the overflow area. I need to get the new display case built. Sue's on my case about getting it done. -
F-15DJ Kai or Eagle Plus- Finished!
BlrwestSiR replied to BlrwestSiR's topic in The Great Twins Broup Bluild
It's finally finished. I got around to mounting the missiles. They're on a short piece of wire to help keep them in place. I then found the canopy after a bit of searching. I'd misplaced it for safekeeping. With that done, she's all finished. Sorry for the very cluttered background but she's so big I don't have much space to take pics of the model. -
If anyone is interested, here's a link to my LHS which carries them. Gives you an idea of the colour range which is similar to their acrylic one. https://wheelswingshobbies.com/paint-primer-thinner/tamiya/enamel-bottles/ Note the similar shape to the old Testors bottles.

I was just on Starship Modeler and there's a post saying that Tamiya USA will be bringing in their enamel paints shortly. Hopefully that means folks who prefer enamels will have another option. Carl

Peter, I think Scott hit the nail on the head. The kit is from when MRC still distributed Tamiya in the US which was I think the mid '80s. So it's definitely an oldie. -
It's great to the progress in the building of your house Rog. Also neat to see the differences in how it's done. compared to Canada. As for ceiling height, a higher ceiling is considered an upgrade. For condos here, 8 ft is the norm, but our last two had 10 and 9 ft ones respectively. They do help make a smaller space look bigger.

Portajohns or Johnny-on-the-spot here.

Paul, I was on BNA Modelworld's website and they have a few Egg Girl kits on sale. Don't know if they're ones you have or if the price is decent but thought I'd mention it. https://www.bnamodelworld.com/index.php?route=product/search&search=Egg girls If you click on an item, you can get an estimate for the shipping costs.

Paul, check out this thread on Britmodeler. Although it's about the Stuart, there's a post with a couple pics of Matildas showing the correct colour scheme versus the incorrect one with the blue. https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/54758-help-needed-with-a-british-honey-the-m3-stuart-variety/#comment-4984192 AK does a couple paint sets with the relevant colours in them.
-
Paul, just be aware that the colours in that camo scheme are incorrect. They shouldn't be that blue. Otherwise the Caunter scheme is a cool camo.
-
That F looks nice. Like you and John said, a different scheme.

Chris, I think the upper fuselage was warped. The one I built earlier was a bit off but nothing as bad. -

I stuck a piece of sprue in between the two halves. It spreads them apart enough but I think I'm at the limit before something breaks/cracks. The fire/aft gap I can close up with a bit of pinching so it looks like I won't have to find a Mig-28. -

Okay, right after reading Chris's reply, this is what came to mind. I am planing to do it inflight so maybe not a completely crazy idea.
