  1. Nice car Harv! I like the white too. Must be the Asian in me. Carl
  2. Ernie, It's all really coming together now. The lightning bolt on the fuselage is just awesome. Carl
  3. Just got back from driving to Wisconsin to visit my sister and her family in our 2009 Honda Fit. We did a total of 2700km of driving, mostly at 120km/h except for an hour in Ontario at 130 which was the pace of traffic. We Ontarians love to speed... With the four of us, a roof box and 2 bikes on the rear rack we managed 6.6l/100km or 35.64 mpg according to Martin's chart. Can't complain about that. Although I may want a slightly bigger car next time we do a road trip. Carl
  4. That works for me. I know how hard it is to do straight thin lines.
  5. Hey Harv, just got back from visiting my sis and checked my copy of The Modern Phantom Guide. It says the D had the same HUD as the E but doesn't mention any panels/switches being there specifically for the gun pod. The coaming is part F31 in the kit. The corresponding uprights for the HUD are F33 and F34 with D10 being the glass. Hopefully that's right. Carl
  6. What Harv said! I'd have kittens trying to get thin strips decals down so evenly spaced. Carl
  7. I wonder if the mods were done on an ad hoc basis by whatever ground crew were servicing the plane at that time. It would explain a lot of the variety.
  8. Some fantastic looking results there Ernie.
  9. I think we counted 17 of them. Plus one Allison engined one. Really a sight to see. There were a pair of Mig-17s, the CWHM Canso was there but somehow I missed it. A bunch of Dakotas, a B-24 was circling but I didn't see it land. Same with a B-29.
  10. You're welcome Martin! I managed to meet up with Richard Palimaka there and had a great time walking around the warbirds displays while we talked about planes and models.
  11. XP-82 While I was looking at these Mustangs, one taxied up into the space on the right side of the photo. I managed to take a video of it coming. I think clicking on the pic below shows the video. After he shut down
  12. Here's a couple more pics I took. There was a presentation where they interviewed the USAF pilot that flew thus very Skyraider in Vietnam and he talked about his experiences there and after the war relating to the Spad. Pig tails any one?
  13. Guess I'll need to get some of those. Thanks for facilitating this Ernie! Carl
  14. Couldn't take it home with me unfortunately. Or any of these:
  15. Sadly i didnt get in. I spent 45 minutes to go 3 blocks and was still a mile to the parking lot. So I'm going to try tomorrow but leave earlier.
  16. Great progress Ernie. The canopy surgery looks nice and clean. The wife is kicking me out of the house now to go to Osh Kosh so see you in a bit.
  17. Check your local paint shop Jeff. I bought some there i think it was $10 for a roll.
  18. But Jeff, you do know that a 302 fits in the engine bay right? Look up Monster Miata. They sell the conversion kit. Scary thing is the Ford 302 isn't much heavier than the 1.6 that you're swapping out.
  19. Zacto does a very nice resin intake for the Academy kit. GT Resin has one for the Tamiya. KASL makes burner cans and different vertical tails for both.
  20. Thanks Gaz! They're regular kit plastic.
  21. Apparently so did our cat!!! I think she wanted to reenact the asteroid scene from The Empire Strikes Back.
  22. It's getting closer to completion. Which means I'm getting closer to having no place to put it once it's done. I bent the Master pitot so will have to get a new one. Also one of the cabin windows popped out and is now rattling around inside the cabin. No way to fish it out much less glue it back in place so I may have to get creative.
  23. Wanted something quick and simple before we leave tomorrow on vacation.
  24. So sorry to hear about this Jeff. They truly become part of the family. My dog is almost 12 and I dread the day I have to say goodbye.
  25. Ernie, I used an Eduard PE set for the cockpit on mine but somewhat differently. I was able to cut the panels apart and use them selectively so I could keep some of the moulded in details so they weren't as flat. Otherwise, mine went together fairly straightforward. The intake can be a touch fiddly. I recall it needing a slight tweak or two. Zacto models make a nice intake for the kit. I can't recall if anyone does a wheelbay set though. I believe Scott is building one now on the site. Maybe see what he has to say. For the Eagle, check out either Starshipmodeler.biz or Culttvmanshop.com Both are great companies to deal with and have several detail sets for the Eagle.
