Kitty Hawk F-5F done.
BlrwestSiR replied to Clunkmeister's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
The instrument decals look great. They seem to conform really well over the various bumps and dials. Don't forget, Canada is Metric too. We even have a band with that name. Carl -

They're all different coloured sprues? It's not too bad honestly. Sometimes I do the odd head scratching though.

I hope you do end up offering them. I'd be happy to wait until then. There's plenty of other stuff I can work on in the meantime. Carl -

Sorry to hear about the knee Ernie. Hopefully your wife doesn't threaten to trade you in for a newer model like mine does every time I injure/sprain something. As for the decal issue, maybe see if someone here isn't using that option and get their copy of the correct one. Then just cut out the star and place over top? Carl -

There's at least one two holer in the film if that's enough of an excuse Edit: whoops, must have not updated the page before posting as it's already there. Carry on, nothing to see here... -
What a 11,391 model collection looks like
BlrwestSiR replied to BlrwestSiR's topic in General Discussion
My understanding is the collection is in/near Burlington, Ontario which is 30-45 min from Toronto. Looking at some of the shop names on the price tags, that makes sense. Of course, most are long gone. It's an estate sale as the owner recently passed away. 1to1scale, I've sent you a PM with what I received in the email. Carl -

The finish looks fantastic Danny. I'll have to try a NMF one day. Carl -

The Echelon Lightning and Lodela Beaufighters caught my eye as well. The seller doesn't want the hassle of breaking it up hence the lot sale. Supposedly this collection is not far from me so if it does end up getting broken up for sale, I'm going to take the trip down. Carl -
Tamiya Spitfire IXe with ModXXX
BlrwestSiR replied to BlrwestSiR's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Finally back at this one. I was waiting for seatbelts to arrive but then found one set in the stash so I was able to start up again. First up was the IP. I used a Yahu panel for this. Then it was onto the rest of the cockpit. The belts I used are from Wako, a Japanese brand. Once I get the waist belts done, I'll be ready to close the fuselage up. Carl -
I just got an email from West Coast Hobbys in BC. They're helping a client sell a collection of kits that belonged to her father. Going thru the included gallery was absolutely astounding. It's mostly smaller scale aircraft but there's a bunch of 1/32 aircraft and 1/35 armour. So much rare and OOP stuff. https://westcoasthobbys.us11.list-manage.com/track/click?u=3f6256c2d4c390986ae8c57b8&id=8e73b5ba60&e=ba8c3d20c7 It's being sold as a single lot. So, anyone want to open a hobby shop? The sad thing is the realization that there is no way anyone could have built everything in that collection, not even if you worked at it 24/7. Carl

If you want robbery, let me tell you about a package we sent to my sister in Chile. Her youngest daughter was turning 1 so we wanted to send her a red candle shaped like the number 1. We'd used it on the birthday cake for all our kids up to that point. Postage wasn't horrid, $25 or so from Canada. It took 3 weeks instead of the guaranteed 1 week. About 2 months after it got there, we received a letter from the courier company that there were duties owed of... ...$325 CAD!!!!! On a used candle no less!!!! Plus, since they had paid the duties on our behalf, if we didn't reimburse them the bill would be sent to a colllection agency. Now we all joke that the candle is going to be an heirloom for when our kids have children. Carl -

Can you build a Mig-28 from it? You know, to keep up international relations. -

Man, that reminds me of the old comic Lobo's Paramilitary Christmas Special where the Easter Bunny puts a hit out on Santa. It's a very dark, tongue in cheek comic if you ever get the chance to read a copy. Carl -
