  1. I've done that on one build I think the Graf Spee it was OK glue was an issue to the finish.
  2. That's it Guy FH was starting to sort out the pedestals last night what I have are to small to the eye methionks.I have some paints coming in from the Gundam store this week see how the Hull Red looks also have some German Dark Grey coming 2X.

  6. Nice Build !!and that's Martin for ya.
  7. I really like the way this one came out Peter.
  8. I have seen some nice builds of the 1/200 but it really has never interested me.
  9. It comes with a fair amount of PE with the kit so it looks like it but I also p/u these over the last 1 1/2 yrs the 2cm flaks will be a big improvement over the kits(have 8).I have seen some guys stain the deck if I have something light enough might go there.
  10. Glad you are along Mike do not be surprised of a stall or moving on to a plane at times to keep the mojo going.
  11. I think the same Neil some Nice lines on the Sharnhorst. The ladders measure out to about 16" in 1/200 and 24" abouts in 1/350 but the IJN may of used wider ladders. The photos I have seen of the stern they look quite narrow.
  12. 1943 Operation Paderborn like the colors overall dark grey scheme white stern/bow yellow tops to main guns. Some ladders....
  13. looking John.
  14. I have started on the hull of course and the first thing was to drill out the portals along the sides of the hull. The next step was to examine for ladders up and down the hull these were necessary for duties and maintenance to the hull.I found while doing the IJN Heavy Cruiser Chikuma that these ladder's add alot of detail to the hull giving it that 3D look. The problem is I have no 1/200 scale ladders but my 1/350 matched to the width that Trump put on the sides I am figuring they equal to about 18" width good enough for a man to work it took me 1 hr for the first set the longest set the rest with experience will be replicated quicker. The ones that Trumpter had enbossed on the sides of the hull were so faint one would never of noticed them.I feel I am getting a bit long winded here all about ladders an portals but the IJN loved these ladders they could have 5/8 sets on the capital ships each side the Scharnhorst has three in the stern both sides which most ships have something there. This build I figure may take a year or better depending on time and the attention span.I leave now with a simple pic of the ship when the hull gets it's primer coat I will post a pick..
  15. All one can say NICE!
  16. Some Nice Crates John making a fitting tribute.
  17. Shoot Peter your SeaFury looks great right now. Thanks Rob never used that much tape before but I figured 1/48 she needed a hard edge. Thanks Martin and she has good size to boot @11.25" on the WS.
  18. The WhirlWind is finished after sitting in the stash for maybe 20 yrs now.The build followed your typical short-run limited kit poor instructions on parts location and then just fitting like having to dremel and drill out the nose for the barrels Anyway she came out pretty good nothing special but I have added another unusual subject to the cabinet. Thanks for looking in guys sorry for the distraction called life and getting banged up but we tarry on.
  19. That is one Sasweeett looking Crate Peter ....stunner!!
  20. What was the gloss Gary?I almost always use Future esp if the decals are glossy.I have had discoloration which can be fixed in most case but never eating the clear.
  21. OK moving along the LG's are in place, antenna and pitot tube which I made out of two different diameters of brass definitely looks more to scale.I had to drill out the locations for 20mm up to make them slow was the game.I am going to repaint part of the nose tonight to make it all blend properly. The props I did as planned drilled the spinner and the blades insert .015 guitar wire and put them together.Shes coming together and actually looking better than I thought it would let's hope no mishaps before the finish line.
  22. I like that green looks splendid.
  23. That's a Nice finish on that white John should look good when done.
  24. Not that night the way it was going Pete felt like somebody let the dogs out after me.I have some work this morning on the WhirlWind it's going rathr well thus far today.I made the pitot tube that attaches to the the top of the tail out of two different pieces of brass looks much more to scale,The LG's are ready to be positioned in the WW's test fit looks good and the props are painted. The props I am going to insert .015" wire drill the nacelle nose and insert just do not feel good with simple glue somewhere when moving one will break off.The plane is very close to it's finish line I am amazed that the WS is about 11.25" for a fighter in 1/48 that's pretty significant.I always said Peter when you were working yours by SH that thing looks big but maybe it's the fuselage to wing illusion coming into play?
