GazzaS
Kai, The painting is looking top notch. I'm really liking the weathering you have done to the green. Really looking forward to the unmasking!
Bomber_County
Kai, absolutely stunning, again just catching up, this is going to an awesome build. I use AK Interactive Camouflage Elastic Putty, it’s brilliant and is relatively cheap. It adheres perfectly due to I think the latex? Also reusable again and again……
Kaireckstadt
Thanks for your feedback! I‘m also looking forward now to finish the painting and unmask everything. Thanks for the tipp with the AK Elastic Putty. Seems to work nice. Since I love AK-products (I use their Real Colors for this build) I will order it.
DocRob
Can't wait to see, how the paintjob will look in the end, after you peeled of two kilos of masking material. Cheers Rob 2
Kaireckstadt
Now you know why the undercarriage isn’t installed up to now… I removed the Blue Tack in one place already just to see if it worked (was too curious myself): What do you think ? 7
Trigger
Looking good Kai!, I use the same method as you when painting with blue tack and taping off the area that you already painted, it is indeed a lot of work, but it works out in the end, I also see people who do this freehand, but I think this way is better, you don't get any overspray, and when you carefully make consistent rolls with blue tack, the result is what you have right now, a nice transition in the colors just as on the real aircraft. Looking forward to the next update, Frank
Peterpools
Kai From my end the cammo looks mighty good and there might just be a very light over spray of green onto the sand by the upper rudder. Also the beaching on the green by the dark green seems to look a bit light. Of course, I'm pixel peeping and it could also be the lighting as well. Keep 'em comin Peter Thanks for your feedback Peter. You said there might just be a very light over spray of green onto the sand by the upper rudder. Do you mean this region: This is the preshading shining through the color. To be honest: I had to repaint the light sand above the rudder-cutout because I touched it with some green paint at my thumb.. Your second remark I don’t understand correctly:„Also the beaching on the green by the dark green seems to look a bit light“ What exactky do you mean? The area above the green is a cover which will be painted grey in the end. But I think you mean something else.
Peterpools
Kai Yup, the circle is the green over spray area. The bleached area now makes sense as' it's going to be painted out in the end.' Nope, that was what I was looking at Kai. Photos lie as what we are looking at is often larger then in person and the viewer is directed to look at a specific area rather then the whole aircraft. Looking at the paint itself - smooth as silk .. beautiful work Keep 'em comin Peter 2

GazzaS
Your painting looks ultra-smooth, Kai! Looking forward to that paint coming off! I usually pull mine about half an hour after I spray... I have no patience! Hurry up!! 2

I usually pull mine about half an hour after I spray... I have no patience! I do the same, not only because I have no patience. I don't like to have masks or masking materials longer on the kit than necessary. Who knows, which thinner reacts with blue tack, kabuki glue or liquid mask. I also have the feeling, that the risk of damaging masked areas is lesser, when the color has dried, but not totally cured. Finish line in sight, with your great paintjob, Kai. Hey! Ho!, let's go! Kaireckstadt
Thanks for your feedback guys! I have the same fear like you Rob. Had no problems with masking tape so far. Even after a long time I had no problems especially on glass parts, which are often the last ones from which the tape is removed. Regarding Blue Tack it will be a new experience. Haven’t used it up to now. Today I will hopefully paint the brown and then judging time has come…😝 @ Hubert: it‘s not done yet but much closer to the finish-line! I do my best!
Kaireckstadt
Tonight I finished the brown: and after having cleaned my airbrush I removed all the masking (huge amount) I am happy since no paint peeled off and that the Blue Tack caused no residue. This is the result: All in all it turned out ok and how I expected it to be (for the first time I used this method). There are some places where rework is necessary but this is easy to correct with the sand color and will be the next task. Only for Hubert: It‘s not finished yet… I think I have to sponsor some: 9

Kaireckstadt
Last evening I had a real lessons learned. After taking a closer look at the paintwork I realized that I had a lot of slight and sometimes heavier overspray on the demarcation lines: Since this is a no go for me it took me 4 hours of my lifetime (like Gary on his 109 ) to correct all this: Lessons learned out of that: a) Make thin worms and flatten them a little on the model. This really avoids over- (or under-) spray. b) The correct angle for spraying has to be kept throughout the airbrush session (90 degrees is to be kept!) c) Don’t spray at too high pressure (I airbrushed at 1,7 bar). d) I don‘t know if you can achieve such a fine demarcation line with freehand airbrushing. If you are able to (I‘m not) please do it. Saves lifetime! Now on to the black/yellow triangles…
