Yup, got the book. Know Pjotr too as he attended the HK Models stand several times at Telford. Great guy and very talented.

Both turret interiors have almost been completed. Drilling out the holes in the FN5 improves the look although everything will be black. Still to drill out the holes in the trunnions. No dorsal  turret in this build, which saves some work.

The turret interiors and the cockpit parts may head to the airbrush department.

The tailplanes finish has been finished. The kit decals got on beautifully. A nice little project to keep this complex build simple. And I like simple;)

The fuselage parts have been joined too.

That airbrush department is still complaining, as they want to know when the interior parts will be sent out.

Soon, very soon.

Very nice. Interesting sequence in building and painting, but at least you get to spray some colour before building the entire bugger!

Thanks, as Jeroen says, you get to see some colour along the way instead of getting bogged down in assembling acres of grey parts without any seemingly progress. Personally I do not like overly complicated kits with lots of detail where the sun doesn't shine. I leave out most of the detail from the rear fuselage and concentrate on the cockpit-area. And tackling subassemblies and finishing them before the next makes such a large project manageable (I hope). And it may serve to rekindle interest in the Manchester again;)

While the airbrushing department is getting started on the interior I wanted to show some comparison pics of the Manchester and Lancaster.

Nice to see the tail comparisons . . .

Look forward to seeing a bit more  :thumbsup2:

Nice comparison fotos thanks!

I have a question: what is the reason that you changed the wing connection at the Manchester? The HK-Solution also allows wing-removal. Is it too weak?

Nice comparison there between the two fuselages.

Kai, I believe that might be due to the fuselage Cees used being an early prototype from HK rather than a production kit.

I think it was to give strength to the wing root as there is a plan to build the two Vulture engines from resin . . . .

Nope, this is the 3d printed prototype that has been to Telford three times and HK Models had used this very solid spar to attach the heavy wings. It was devoid of detail so I had to add everything including the fuselage windows.

in the meantime the airbrush department has started some work.

Thanks for the info regarding the Manchester! Seems to be lot of work you had to put into it! And you have a unique model no one else has!

Your progress is really nice! Which colors do you use for the black and cockpit green? Looks quite close to the AK colors I used for mine (cockpit green and RAF night).

Thanks, I predominantly use Tamiya acrylics. I find they spray very well and don't clog up my airbrush as Vallejo Air does.

Thanks Peter, what kept you:D

Fitting the transparencies in the starboard fuselage is a nervewrecking experience to avoid smearing glue all over the place. Port to follow.

I have a feeling that the window forward of the Wireless operators position isn't present on later Lancs, Will have to check and if so fill them. Must be a carry-over from the Manchester.

I had a look at some pics and the window was still present, saves me a filling job. Later Lancs had this window deleted (prior to deleting all further fuselage windows).

Here are some fotos out of a really good book from Wingleader. The pictures show that the windows were present and sometimes even overpainted.

I think you really have to find fotos of the thing you want to build if you want to be sure. Do you have the production no available (e.g. ED 932) available? Maybe I can help you because I have a lot of literature. Also Ian might be a better source (am I right Ian ?).

So here are the fotos and come back if you need further help.

Cheers

Kai

That’s the problem. Who can’t read has to do extra work. But as long as it doesn’t cost money...;)

Hope you enjoyed the pictures ;)

I‘m not sure, so please tell me what was delivered
