BlrwestSiR
Peter, the newer sets of individual link tracks go together much easier these days. A bunch let you put several together at the same time and include jigs which speeds things up. For example, the Rye Field Panther tracks have the pins all evenly spaced so you glue in several at once. The kit tracks aren't bad from an assembly point. It's just they don't have the duckbills on the end. At least I can use them on an Achilles.

BlrwestSiR
Well it took a couple nights at the bench but the tracks are done. Once I got into a rhythm, it went fairly smoothly, if a bit repetitive. I left off a few random duckbills as they tended to get knocked off and you can see the odd one missing in pics.
Bomber_County
Looking great Carl, didn’t one general berate a US crew for adding extra armour etc........was it Patton?.........the most weird is the applied concrete armour........
BlrwestSiR
Thanks @Bomber_County! I can't recall if it was Patton or not but definitely heard that before. I think the Germans tried concrete armour too.

BlrwestSiR
Thanks Gaz! I spent the evening working on the turret. I lost one of the handles for the commander's hatch so made one from wire. I used the purple to add some bling to the tank. From there, I added the rest of the turret details. One oddity is that RFM give you enough periscope guards on the PE fret but only 4 plastic ones which is 1 short. So I ended up using a mix of the two. I then added the gun barrel and mantlet. Finally the spare track armour. Here's how things look at the moment. So into the home stretch.

That's a good question Phil. I know they got heavy enough that it was frowned upon in some units as they were concerned about the increased strain on the drivetrain as well as the increased ground pressure (hence the duckbills).

BlrwestSiR
I got the muzzle assembled and attached to the gun barrel. There was a small seam line so that needed filling. I then worked on a bit of stowage. I had some resin bits left from a Legend set so I used those with some PE belts from Eduard. I also did a bit of a wash on the hull. Not sure if it shows up in the pics or not.
BlrwestSiR
I added a couple decals for the Governor's General Horse's Guard. There's supposed to be a name but the location was covered by the spare tracks so there was no point. In any case, I accidentally threw it out before I could dip it in water and apply it so probably a good thing. I added the stowage, gave the tank a light overspray of flat earth for a slightly dusty look and she's done. One day I'll get the courage to do some figures and add crews to my tank kits. Otherwise, time to call this one done. Carl

I hope that I can build my Tiger as beautiful as you did with your Sherman’s! 2
