Some fine work you're doing here John. This tandem style cockpit can be challenge to assemble, especially on the short run kit. I wouldn't have the balls to tackle it :).

Cheers

Thanks Martin. It certainly is a challenge and a real PITA sometimes. I don't blame you for not wanting to tackle it and at times I wish I hadn't! 🤪

Finally got the fuselage halves together. With no locating pins/holes it's difficult to get things mated up just right as you can see my all the filler. Oh well!🤪

It's always something - glad you have the fuselage together and cleared up the fit issues and now the front windscreen. The helldiver just doesn't want to give in a get with the program.

Once I get the windscreen corrected I just wonder what will be next. Those guys at Infinity need to get their act together. As for me, I won't be buying any more of their kits. 🙄

I was hoping the Infinity Helldiver would have gone together a lot better then it has; the 'everything' about this type of kit just seems to be on the short side of what we expected. I've had my eye on purchasing one of their new Vampire kits and am now I'm very hesitant as they are due out shortly.

I'd recommend waiting for a kit review Peter before forking out any $$$ for what might be another crappy kit. :)

Maybe I should build mine soon as I am on my third and fourth PCM kits ib a row, so I will be used to the Infinity style of quality.

Cheers

LOL Dennis. If you do then be prepared for a high cuss factor build! :) I think they had the "C" team on this one, certainly not, I hope, the "A" or "B" team.

Wait til you test fit the gunners sliding canopy! Absolutely nothing is straight forward on this kit at all as you mentioned.

Those guys should post a blanket apology for inflicting this piece of junk on us. Really does hurt their reputation. 🤪

Couldn't agree more and sadly looking at pictures of the Vampire it looks like more of the same. Personally I wouldn't buy another Infinity kit ( I think they used the word  Infinity because the erm...fun just goes on for ever and ever) until I have seen plenty of positive build threads of a given subject.

Sorry to bring a (slightly) dissonant voice, but, looking at some pics, it looks more like an overscale rendition of the real deal than a totally inaccurate one …

Not to say that, like HPH kits in resin, these cannot be really challenging. On the other hand, where do you find such unusual subjects (says the scratchbuilder at heart that I am) ?

When word gets around they won't be able to sell many kits. Not until they make some drastic improvements. 🙄

May I suggest Hubert that you purchase one and try to build it? If you are a scratch builder at heart this might be your cup of tea. :)

I've built a few HpH resin kits before and I've found them on the most very enjoyable but this Helldiver is a pretty painful experience because nothing really fits, huge amounts of flash and misaligned moulds in a few areas.  Couple that with a grainy feel to the plastic along with poorly defined detail it's real winner.

Agreed Andy. I've built 3 of their P-63 kits and enjoyed every one. No shake and bake builds but at least things FIT.:)

I have something like 8, or maybe more, HPH kits in the stash, including the DC-3, for which (well, the C-47) I have read - and seen - horrendous build reviews as far as fit is concerned. And it's true of most of the HPH kits I have. So I may take your word one day, building one of those, but not the SB2C, which is not at all my cup of tea, when I stop getting sidetracked ;).

When all cussing and swearing is evaporated, you ARE doing a great job with a pig of a kit, no question about it.

LOL Hubert! I don't see how those guys stay in business issuing such crappy kits. The 3 HpH P-63's I built all had some challenges but nothing like this SB2CSOB. I intend to stay with the build but sometimes I think why put up with all the problems when there are some nice Tamiya and Hasegawa kits on the shelf waiting for attention. :)

Looking forward to this one, you will have lots of fun getting this one together. I'm about to close up the fuselage halves on mine but had to put it to one side as I got pretty burnt out with it

Good to see you onboard, Andy.  I have this as well and will be giving it a go once I wrap up my MiG-29 and D.Vll.

Gonna be epic, John, just starting to read through now.

I look at the cockpit and it just doesn't look "right". Maybe it's just me but I think it needs something. Maybe I should have ordered the RESIN2scale complete set but I just didn't want to fork out $50. I expect when the seat gets here it'll add a lot to the "look" (fingers crossed). 😉

John, I’ve seen some guys use the Tamiya or Barracuda P-51 seat as a close stand in for a Helldiver seat.

I bought the Resin2Detail cockpit set and it’s absolutely phenomenal.  As in mind blowing. EASILY worth the money. And it’s made in the USA, so you’ll have it in a day or two, not the normal week or two from Czechia or a month plus now from Ukraine or Russia.

Very nice indeed John, I would suggest gluing the engine firewall and the rear turtle deck in place and use those two references for getting the fuselage halves to close before going to much further. There is an awful lot of trimming and adjustments needed to get things to close up.

Regards. Andy

Great advice and duly noted, Andy.
Thanks!
