You can't really compare a PCM kit to to a mass-produced kit by a well-known manufacturer. You buy it accepting that extra work "may be required". Although the large part detail is pretty nice, when you look at the sprues, you'll be thinking "garage made". Parts count is small and often I have found that landing gear and wheels require extensive prettying up.
Spitfire
PCM produced kits of subjects ignored by the majors, a lot of the subjects that they made into kits have never been picked up by the mainstream manufacturers. Their Spitfire IX (e and c) was a first in 1/32 as was their Spitfire XIV, then they gave us a Tempest which has only just been replaced by the SH kit. The venerable Revell Hurricane was blown away by their Hurricane kits metal and fabric winged and is a subject still largely ignored by the mainstream. And of course the beautiful Italian subjects that have never been repeated by the mainstream, Macchi C200, C202, Fiat G55, Re 2005. They also did some ground breaking Lufwaffe kits as well, Ta 152 and Fw 190A. The kits are challenging (and how) but come with resin, PE, and normally lots of subject choices in their decals, just add patience and basic modelling skills. Cheers Dennis.
KevinM
It's been slow working in the other side of the shop on a piece for Sis.The Re.2005 has been primer fit overall was pretty good for a limited -run kit I think my projection of the exhaust is a bit extreme should of looked at more pics of the real thing instead went with the positive stops of the mold.I tried to loosen with acetone and about brought the whole build to a halt I managed to save the build after several cracks to the nose were repaired. The MG's in the nose are from the spares box while they gave resin for the wings which will be discarded for metal tubing.I still need to see if I have a suitable color for the top in the stash.
KevinM
I made up some Dk It.Olive from regular It.Olive pretty close to the chips.I started by spraying the the plane with black botches then lined them loosely and erratically. The next step was to fill in the grey areas with the green then to covering the black and an overall spray to my liking. The pics I have seen of the crates was of a spotty appearance for a quick build is dragging out some.

GazzaS
Nice masking around the wing leading edges. One of those features peculiar to Italian aircraft.

DocRob
What a sleek looking plane Kevin and you painted it perfectly with the mottled green and masked borders. The decals bring everything to live. Cheers Rob 3

Thks Rob unfortunately and for other builders do not make the mistake I did with the faci's as I did.I did look to make sure the axe head always point outward but the blade goes up!I was able to lift those off the fuselage but the wings are stuck lesson learned for the Mc.202 to which the smoke rings have arrived. All builds for me except rare occasions has the "Persian Rug Effect"

KevinM
I have a couple more pics and have reversed the fuselage decals with the axe blade UP.I could not get the wings decals to lift and feared messing up the paint better to let it be.The prop is just stuck on ATTM the 20mm cannons are bigger than what was supplied in the kit but match closer to what is in the wheel well.I have one LG with a hose just need to get after the other,

KevinM
calling this done Fellas to many warts still pretty and a Stallion just need to get better,The finish was completed in MM semi-gloss.I was going to weather with some acrylics I just about F'ed the plane up had to use a 3000 grit pad to clean up.I was wondering how does alcohol mess with enamel? I am thinking 91% is just to strong?
