Jackster Posted January 16, 2023 Posted January 16, 2023 I will jump in with the Schimmwagen if that's ok? I need to practice my figure painting as well. The Trumpeter set is German small arms. This will not be an immediate start, but does set my intention. Cheers Kev 15

PanzerWomble Posted January 20, 2023 Posted January 20, 2023 They're great fun , I've built a few of those over the years, along with that recon set . Mainly recreating the well known scene at Kaiserbarrake crossroads during the Battle of the Bulge. 6

PanzerWomble Posted January 26, 2023 Posted January 26, 2023 Yes the LSSAH fooling around for the newsreel cameras Few years ago I did four large scenerios showing various takes from the films in 1/35 , and revisted the crossroads again in a vignette last year ...um,,,, and La Gleize............ did I mention I might have been obsessed by the Battle of the Bulge for 40 years , and had planned to retire to the Ardennes until a certain vote blocked that as an option . EDIT - Sorry ..not intended to take over your thread. 6

Retiring to the Ardennes ? Now, that’s pushing obsession VERY far 😂 ! Hubert, who, less originally, retired to sunny Portugal (but whose name Saint was from the Ardennes, and, after converting to Christianism, and forgiving game hunting, ended up founding the town of Liège, being its first bishop ) 6

Martinnfb Posted February 2, 2023 Posted February 2, 2023 1st SS Panzer Division Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler or SS Division Leibstandarte, abbreviated as LSSAH 5 1
GazzaS Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 Nice choice, Kevin! All SS divisions have names. 1st SS began it;s life as AH's bodyguards. 2nd SS Das Reich 'The Empire' 3rd Totenkopf 'death's head' 4th Polizei 'police' And on and on... Many with names that reflect on a locality connection, or some figure from the past. 5

It is one of the aspects of the hobby that I like the most! Cheers Kev 5
