Administrators Clunkmeister Posted August 4, 2023 Administrators Posted August 4, 2023 I’m calling this one done. I have not weathered it at all, nor have I bombed it up. Yet. Pearl Harbor aircraft were basically new, or next to new machines, having seen no combat before that fateful day, so I will give it some basic exhaust and oil staining, and possibly a bit of minor salt staining. I’m placing it on a table at the IPMS US Nationals tomorrow, and this is as far as I’m willing to go, today. It looks good, alignment is decent, and it’ll give a good account of itself tomorrow and Saturday. It’s not a Nationals winner, but it’s a decent and straight build. This aircraft was the flight leader on the first wave of dive bombers, and sortied from the carrier Shokaku. The special color was for formation assembly after the attack was completed. Ill add some better pics in a bit 10 2

Martinnfb Posted August 4, 2023 Posted August 4, 2023 Damn, that orange gave it a completely different vibe. Nicely done , I mean to this point, with some gentle staining and your magic weathering touch she is going to be a winner! 2 1
Bill_S Posted August 4, 2023 Posted August 4, 2023 Based on your build, I have one coming my way. My wallet thanks you! 3

denders Posted August 5, 2023 Posted August 5, 2023 Thanks. No, we're not coming to the banquet. I do have to pick up my Corsair model. Probably sometime after dinner or whenever I can get into the contest room. 2
Administrators Clunkmeister Posted August 5, 2023 Author Administrators Posted August 5, 2023 Yep, say hi if you see my ugly Texas face. 1
shadowmare Posted August 14, 2023 Posted August 14, 2023 Clean but elegant warbird! Very sad thing that they gave up on making plastic. 2
Administrators Fran Posted August 14, 2023 Administrators Posted August 14, 2023 Great great work Ernie! Also love the base!!! 2

KevinM Posted August 16, 2023 Posted August 16, 2023 She came out real Nice Ernie I was watching YT last night saw the build on there at the table for San Marcos. 1 1

A fairly easy and straightforward build, as well. The kit’s big weakness are the decals. I recommend the resin engine and exhaust as well. 3
Peterpools Posted August 25, 2023 Posted August 25, 2023 Ernie Congrats on an awesome build - so very well done. Add of course, it's my kind of finish. 🏆 2
