Martinnfb
Catching up with this beauty Chris, great progress and nice clean work on a sexy Cold War warrior. some motivational video
CANicoll
Martin, thanks!! I love when the announcer says "... the aircraft is joined by the ground support equipment and the fire trucks". Not sure strapping myself into an aircraft where the support equipment requires fire trucks is reassuring! Reminiscent of the B-29 and its engine fires.. And that poor guy pumping the jack handle...LOL The plane looks funny without the centerline tank.
BlrwestSiR
Some great progress there Chris. The camo is coming along nicely. I wonder do you're going through as much paint as I am on the Tomcat.
belugawhaleman
Nice to see one of these built. I had the kit years ago and for some reason I decided it couldn't be built, and never started it.
Spitfire
I am not a great fan of "modern" subjects but the Hustler is such an amazing looking aircraft that it does capture my imagination, and I have always like that camouflage scheme, great work, can't wait to see the finished result. Cheers Dennis
ScottsGT
Project Bullseye! Rumored to have been seen by a few, but no photographic evidence. I picked up this kit many years ago on the cheap. Came in a smaller cardboard shipping box since the kit box was so big. I think I have the hard to find Caracal decals set for it too.

But I must say the MRP really does have good coverage. It is just this subject is so bloody large. I'm cheating a bit in using Vallejo Black Primer for the black parts and that is saving a ton. Ditto using the Vallejo White Primer. On 8/12/2024 at 1:48 AM, belugawhaleman said: Nice to see one of these built. It is a BIG bird when its done, and even with the front cockpit hatch open, there is not a lot to see. So unless you want to work in NMF on a very large aircraft (and I'm also looking at the 1/48 B-29 sitting in my closet..) There is not a lot of interesting stuff you can do with it. IMHO... Wait till you see what is coming off the kit decals!! RE: Project Bullseye - I wish I had seen that Camo pattern as I like it better than the one I'm doing right now. But Not enough to redo everything or get another kit!!!
CANicoll
Camo has been sprayed so taking the opportunity to do some decaling. Might rethink the blue and do a Dark Brown spray over the light blue... ....hmmm Here is what comes off of the kit decals. Painted the bombs white and then stole the Sidewinder decals from the 1/32 Tamiya F-4EJ kit just to get some markings on the bombs. Completely inaccurate, but oh well! Still need to paint the noses black. Here is the camo pattern. Some decaling... And what is a bomber without nose art? From the 1/48 B-26 Pyn-up set by Meteor Productions (Bought new in 2004!!!!!). Still some filler needed on the side windows. Might not be as hard as I thought to cover the light blue with Dark Brown... Will look at that this weekend.
Landlubber Mike
Looking really great Chris! That camo came out really nicely. Can't forget about the pin-up - nice looking for sure 1

Peterpools
Chris Some mighty sweet progress and I do agree with Hubert about the light blue ... glad you're going to change it with dark brown, as the overall effect should be right with the USAF SEA schemes. Of course, one of the big advantages of the smaller scales is paint last so much longer. 😁
CANicoll
Sorry to the delay in posting and finishing. Having some health issues and undergoing a procedure on Tuesday. Outpatient so home the same day, so hope after a few days on my back I can put in some bench time and finish this up - unless I keep shooting myself in the foot! Thought about over spraying the blue with Dark Brown, only to find out I don't actually OWN any dark brown MRP paint, and I didn't want to try to overlay Vallejo. Blast. Substituted a darker Tan to create a four-color camo pattern. I think dark brown would have been perfect, but this is an interesting pallet. Attached the bombs to the bomb racks under the wings A wash would have brought up some of the details on the bombs, esp around the rear fins. Where I shot myself in the foot is attaching the bottom of the wing to the fuselage and top wing. I detached the front half of the large under fuselage pod, breaking the attachment pins along the way. Put it away to fix when I'm not as frustrated.
Peterpools
Chris First off, concerned about your health issues and undergoing an outpatient procedure on Tuesday. Please keep us informed as to how you made out. The B-58 is looking mighty good and the cammo looks just the part. Just a bit confused as to the undersurfaces - which is the final finish: all black or the photo above it with the brown and blue over the black? 2
CANicoll
Thanks Peter, I'll let you know how it turns out. My issues are not as severe as you and your wife's, but thanks for your concern. Sorry, the B-58 is black on the bottom and camo on top with a black nose. I will get some pics up tomorrow.
Peterpools
Chris Fingers crossed for your procedure on Tuesday. Diane and I are hanging in there and doing all we can - just part I guess of getting older. Thanks for clearing up my confusion on the B-58 underside color.

I continue to keep my finges crossed you and Diane are doing well. I saw a neighbor last night who is a nurse in the same practice I go to and she said several of her patients have had excellent results from the procedure. Will let you know.
