GazzaS Posted November 13, 2018 Posted November 13, 2018 Nice work, Tom! Did you do the oil-canning, or was it airfix? Gaz 2

After adding a few more bits, it’s off to masking and a Tamiya AS-12 base. I plan to paint most of the markings. Cheers, Tom 1

They did a phenomenal job with the surface, and I applaud them with stepping past the status quo to do this. I wonder what the molds look like? Cheers, Tom 4
Uncarina Posted December 3, 2018 Author Posted December 3, 2018 A little progress. First: Then a swirled sea blue undercoat: Then the camouflage. I’ve marked the RAF Green using a colored pencil over the Ocean Grey, then will add it with a tight feathered edge: Cheers, Tom 5
Administrators Clunkmeister Posted December 4, 2018 Administrators Posted December 4, 2018 You’re killing me, Tom. I love this kit and now I had to drag mine out and drool over it! Nice clean job so far. Loving it, every single minute of it. 2

I have to write that this is one of my favorite builds in recent years, in any scale. Cheers, Tom 3
DocRob Posted December 4, 2018 Posted December 4, 2018 Looking superb and your way of applying the paint a little patchy supports the stressed surface effect in a beautiful way. Cheers Rob 2

Cheers Rob Rob, thanks, you are very kind! I was hoping for this effect by using a fine/medium tip with the airbrush. It certainly took longer to paint but I have better control and less overspray. Cheers, Tom 2
Peterpools Posted December 8, 2018 Posted December 8, 2018 Tom Brilliant progress and love her with the cammo on. Your build has cemented my next build after the Corsair: Car Door Tiffy as well. Super work on the cowl assembly; the final fit with the small wedges looks great. I remember reading somewhere one of the parts for the intake assembly was shown backwards on the instructs. Any problems here? Keep 'em comin Peter
Uncarina Posted December 9, 2018 Author Posted December 9, 2018 Peter, Thank you! You will have a blast, and I would really enjoy watching your work. I didn’t encounter any issues, but it might be because I didn’t have the engine exposed, or maybe I wasn’t paying attention like I should! Cheers, Tom
Uncarina Posted December 9, 2018 Author Posted December 9, 2018 Starting to apply the markings, using Montex masks. With the surface detail on this kit, please don’t use decals! Cheers, Tom 5
Uncarina Posted December 9, 2018 Author Posted December 9, 2018 Thanks Martin! It is exciting to make some progress. Cheers, Tom 1
GazzaS Posted December 9, 2018 Posted December 9, 2018 Looks great, Tom! The yellow leading edge and gun barrel sleeves are the cat's meow. Gaz 2
DocRob Posted December 9, 2018 Posted December 9, 2018 Great looking Tiffy Tom, and you are right, avoid decals wherever you can, they just don't blend in. Cheers Rob 1
TJTX Posted December 9, 2018 Posted December 9, 2018 It looks great, I'm especially impressed with the look of the paint. I may need to try that technique. 1
Uncarina Posted December 9, 2018 Author Posted December 9, 2018 Thanks for the kind comments! All the masking done except for the lower wing. Cheers, Tom 4
