BlrwestSiR
Well it seems I have a bad case of squirrelitis as I've pulled yet another kit out of the stash and I'm, started it. The plan is to do it OOB and just get her done from start to finish. Well, that's the plan. Carl
BlrwestSiR
So I started with the lower hull. Oddly, Tamiya placed all the ejector pins on the outside of the hull plates. So some putty and sanding were in order. Then it was cleanup of the seams on the numerous road wheels. I've picked up some reverse action paint clips. These grab stuff from inside versus the usual outside. Time for paint!
BlrwestSiR
I then started on assembling the lower hull. I'm going to use the rubber band tracks that came with the kit for now. I can always swap them out later if it feel like I want the torture.

BlrwestSiR
Thanks Martin! There something about these upgunned Shermans that is so appealing.
Martinnfb
Exactly the HVSS suspension looks massive and sturdy. And the muzzle brake sits there like a cherry on the top of the cake. Plus I love Jewish ingenious approach and survival mentality.

I've been pretty good the last few years about not starting too many at once. This time I just couldn't help myself. At the moment, I have the following on/near the bench: - 2 HK B-25 J Mitchells - Tamiya Spitfire IX - ZM He-219 - Trumpeter Mi-24V - Hasegawa FW190 A8 - Takom Leopard C2 - Bronco M24 Chaffee - Italeri LCM3 - Tamiya M51 I really just wanted something I could knock out and be done. Which is why I'm leaving out the AM. The single colour helps a long way in that regard too.

Bomber_County
Carl, I reckon you should count a twin as double the work, so add three to your list.... so that’s a cool 13 then...........

BlrwestSiR
Ok, I've painted the rubber bands and installed them. There's a seam that runs along the bottom edge of the turret so after gluing the halves together, I scraped it down and stippled on some Mr Surfacer to restore the cast texture. A quick coat of paint and a sneak peak at what she'll look like.

Ivan Ivanovich
What's the deal with this one? Is it a Sherman WITH a big stick or is it a Sherman ON a big stick? Looks good. Weitermachen!

BlrwestSiR
A bit more progress over the last couple of days. I got all the on vehicle tools painted and installed. There's a couple more small bits before a final coat of paint and then decals. Here's a pic comparing it to the British Firefly.

The M51 is shorter than the M4A4/ Sherman V which was the longest Sherman variant. It should be the same length as most other Shermans including your E8, gun barrel notwithstanding. 1 hour ago, GazzaS said: So Carl... What's the two twin engined thingees? B-26? Those are my pair of HK B-25s. Besides never getting involved in a land war in Asia (), the only other piece of advice I have is don't try to build a pair of medium bombers at the same time.
