H 34

Recommended Posts

I ended up ordering the Wrecker truck kit but in the meantime I am checking on scale matching the helo and I believe it works.
Heres how It looks, this is going to be a large dio I believe. I have started surgery on the flatbed area.

Panzerwomble, I am taking your advice on checking the wheels being even on the ground, thanks for the tip.

Small update. This is gonna be larger than I was planning but I am going with it. It screams for figures but can't find anything in 1/32. I have found folks that design and print but their fees is more that I make in a week at work.

Amazing work. The crane is the equal in size and knowing you, complexity of the H34. Any chance there might be some 1/35 scale figures that might work?

Hi Pete,

1/35 won't work I am afraid, too much of a difference for my taste. I talked to Norbert at Reedoak and he has two mechanic figures . I am still trying to locate something since I wanna to have a least 4 figures. A lot of work on that truck.

Was just thinking a little bit out loud and wondering if there were 1/35 scale figures that were on the large side. Fingers crossed on finding 1/32 figures. In photography as in diorama's, odd numbers seem to work best so maybe after you resolve the figures issue, you might do them an a group of three or five.

Looking at the truck, it surely is going to be a 'ton' of work but my money is riding on you.

Actually, whereas 1/35 vs 1/32 makes a VERY significant difference for the same subject (one occupying 76% of the volume of the other), human figures is where it’s bringing a welcome, and realistic, difference, reflecting the variety of human sizes. With one caveat though : ideally, all should have a 1/32 head grafted on, whatever the body size, as head size is fairly constant for all adults.

And, btw, there is no beating the Reedoak figures. Norbert is using 3D scanning of real people, which is why they look so natural, including some not-so-trim individuals (look at their photographer for instance)

Oliver, nice progress and the smaller figure is absolutely usable. Smaller figures should be in the rear (force perspective) and you could make then larger by maybe changing heads and Hubert had suggested or a plug in the legs, since we all come in different heights and waistlines. 🙃

Nice progress on the crane canine. Looking so good. BTW, how is the hunt for figures going?

Hi Pete,

no luck on figures so far but still looking.
I just realized looking at the photos  that my crane cabine is wrong, it is a touch wider than mine in the photo so debating if I start over.  Mmmmm!!!

I remade a cabin because the previous one got warped from the glue drying, I usually add a touch of superglue to help with gluing but I didn't this time...Cutting corners does bite sometime.

I still have to create the details  inside and the other wall and the door, I will have to paint the inside first before I glue the other wall.
