Well after a year of plugging away it's finally finished though I can still spot things that need correcting but I give up ! The kit is still the best Hawker Typhoon kit in 1/32 scale but it is not the easiest of kits to build, challenging is an apt description, the instruction are absolutely useless, which is a shame as some of the resin castings are superb. The rockets do not come with the kit and are purchased separately from MDC. The main markings apart from one fin flash, which I messed up and had to resort to a decal (sorry for the D word Mal) are painted using Miracle Paint Masks, stencils are from Aviaeology and the canopy is a Squadron vac form jobby. Paints are Xtracolor for the main finish and Humbrol for the detail parts. So on with the photos And here it is alongside the Revell Typhoon, I built this one in the early 1990's but it was refinished in 2004/5 Cheers Dennis

I have no interest in Luftwaffe subjects and the finished article was too big to fit on my shelves but I built the Revell kit as a no hassle build to refresh my modelling mojo and it worked, I thoroughly enjoyed the build, and had to extend my shelf, enjoy Cheers Dennis -

Disappointing but all will be forgiven if a line of Soviet WW2 single engined fighters appear (LaGG, Mig, Yak, Lavochkin) ! Cheers Dennis -

Fascinating to actually see this never mind seeing one built, when I returned to building models I bought anything 1/32 scale that I could find, I heard about this kit and it's strange scale but I never saw one. Cheers Dennis -
1:32 Hasegawa P-40 E "Dottie II"
Spitfire replied to rieser's topic in LSM 1/32 and Larger Aircraft Ready for Inspection
Great build and great paintwork and weathering, the latter is something that I tend to avoid as I am very bad at it, the early war period aircraft fascinate me and looking at your build if I did not have two kits in the works I would be tempted to build a P-40 myself. Cheers Dennis -

I'll be watching this one with interest, I like Italian WW2 subjects and could not understand why PCM missed the G50 when they were in their Italian phase, so I was over the moon when the SH kit came out, it will be nice to see one built (and educational). Cheers Dennis- 12 replies

That looks great, I love the paintwork and weathering Cheers Dennis -
I have had the same experience, great service, fast delivery of new parts, the replacements did not have the crack but both had an oval shaped distortion in the rear of the canopy, I've sent an email off to them. Cheers Dennis

Got an e mail from Airfix yesterday that said that they had put 2 new canopies are in the post, great service. Cheers Dennis

Hi Cees, both of my kits have faulty canopies, both are cracked where the canopy attaches to the sprue and both have a distorted dimple in the back part of the canopy, here's a photo of the crack. The distorted part is a bit more difficult to photograph, but here is an attempt. Cheers Dennis

Spitfire replied to pfuf's topic in Problems? Suggestions? Tell us!
My PC is running 8.1 and I have not had any problems at all, when I turn on the PC it goes straight to my desktop just like Windows 7, and it behaves itself. Cheers Dennis -
