  1. Great looking Leo Gaz and the tracks and wheels look stunning. I may had applied a little bit more dust to front orientated parts of the tank and turret, given the dust sodden wheels. Cheers Rob
  2. Since being a kid, I always loved the 707 best, with the 747 at second place. It will be a big loss to be not able to spot Jumbo's in the air. The 707 brought me to try to get a job as an flight engineer with Lufthansa, but they didn't accept me and I had to work earthbound for my whole live . Cheers Rob
  3. If you mean, mixing AK's with Gunze leveling thinner it's a sometimes yes, sometimes no thing. If it's a 'no' Colour, then you have a lot to clean. For using leveling thinner with Acrylics, I started to make a test, mixing the ingredients on a plastic sheet and wait for some minutes. Generally, Tamiya's Acrylics mix well with leveling thinner, AK is soso, and Vallejo Air is a no go in my tries. Normally I use Tamiya X20 for thinning AK Colours. Cheers Rob
  4. Beautiful, and the NMF-job emphasizes the refined and sleek lines of the Junkers. You can clearly see, that something new was looming construction wise. Full metal planking, single wing, advanced aerodynamics and simplification, a milestone. I always wanted to buy one and finish it in NMF too, but was to lazy. Who knows, maybe one of these days... Cheers Rob
  5. I fear my wife is suspecting me having a girl friend called 'In half an hour, honey' . Cheers Rob
  6. Sometimes it's a pain with these routine jobs. How often have I said to my wife 'coming in half an hour, just one coat of primer, varnish,... and bust. Something clogs, something mixes not correctly, blotches, dust, I can feel your dread. Primer-wise that is the main reason for my deep addiction with Tamiya rattle can primer, which never let me down, only that there seems to be no way anymore to get the stuff to my tiny island, bummer. Tomorrow is another day and your Stern von Afrika will shine. Cheers Rob
  7. Nobody seems/seemed to be interested to do some of the highly attractive Austro-Hungarian birds in LS (except HPH). That's a shame, so many interesting profiles and weird camos to paint. I would have preferred a 1/32 OEFFAG, but have to settle with the 1/48 from Eduard. After experimenting with the best way of rigging in 1/48, I have to admit, there were some letdowns while trying my pre-imagined simple rigging ideas. I've yet to find an effective working solution, but my tests showed, that elastic rigging is the way to go in this scale, though I prefer the sturdy fishing line as a structural element in LS. Cheers Rob
  8. Welcome to LSM Andrew. Your Panzer I looks great, there are so many details to discover, which contrast the otherwise dominant DAK yellow nicely. Your painting creates a very good material appearance, steel looks like painted steel, wood looks like wood,..., a hard to achieve result. Cheers Rob
  9. Sorry to hear that Jeff, Allergies are a real pain. Mine became a lot better, when I left Berlin some years ago for my tiny Island. Here is far less pollution in the air and the plants seemingly don't affect me that much. Cheers Rob
  10. Good looking Tiger and a nice touch with the headphone cord. I like the dusty weathering of the wheels. Cheers Rob
  11. Just lucky that my usual allergy with lots of sneezing wasn't that bad this year. I would have been under quarantine the whole time . Cheers Rob
  12. Good to hear, that you spoilt the thread title 'what is on your bench' this time . Glad to hear, there is no permanent damage with that flood in your house. Some years ago I visited a ghost town in Arizona, called Bodie, if I remember right. The only mostly undamaged structure was the former brothel, which was the only building made from brick. Always look for the core businesses . Cheers Rob
  13. Well, let's see if I agree after rigging of the twins . I ordered an OEFFAG 253 last weak along with some Aviattic Sworl-camo decal in 1/48. I wanted to do one of this Sworl-things after I saw it for the first time. Must be great to have a plane in the shelf, where the wings are covered with what looks like a 20's curtain . Cheers Rob
  14. Thanks Gaz, it's fun to look for 1/48 kits once in a while. I know you do some scale hopping too. Cheers Rob
  15. Thanks Harv, I'd like some popcorn too . Cheers Rob
  16. Just a lousy bench shot this time, but I did a lot of things to distract me from rigging . First I added the engines and cowlings. The overall shine of the Lozenge and fuselages was matted with a slightly higher Tamiya flat / Future ratio and now I like it. I painted the wheels and the 08/15 guns and small wooden parts on the struts and tailskid. There are no more excuses, I have to stat rigging now , but in our momentarily heat wave, maybe I go surfing tomorrow Cheers Rob
  17. Wow, looking good. I like that technique and will remember it hopefully, when I paint my MIG-31. I might add a little sanding after everything is done, to enhance the wear. Cheers Rob
  18. I got a set of Lifelike Decals and the fully lozenged upper one sports the Berliner Bär Wappen. It was part of Jasta Boelcke and was possibly flown by Paul Blunk, but I have to add some research before I start. Cheers Rob
  19. Wow, what a nice Fokker. The, at least to me, unseen scheme is a looker, so many different patterns, great. I like every aspect about your build and hope mine, with the coat of arms of Berlin, will be near as good as yours. Did you use the kit lozenge or AM? Cheers Rob
  20. Will you leave the tail like this, never heard of that scheme . Good news on the HGW's though, as I plan to use them a lot in some of my coming builds, thanks for letting us know. Cheers Rob
  21. Thank you Phil, can't wait to see more of your Camel. I have to say, that the most fun I had with modelling in the last year came out of WWI kits. They are not easy to master, because of lots of different skills you have to master, but so rewarding, when you achieve a nice result. Cheers Rob
  22. Thanks Gaz, and yes, the non LSM area is a quite place here, not easy to get lost by browsing through the real stuff . Cheers Rob
  23. Your Fokker looks brilliant. The different camo pattern and beautiful paintwork makes it stand out. When I'm grown up from my 48 scale SSW's, I might stat one soon, or more likely a Hansa Brandenburg. I hope you post some pics of the finished Fokker. Cheers Rob
  24. I used that stuff sometimes and its good to work with, but beware of thick rolls of Elastic Putty, because it tends to flow and alter it's shape within some minutes. Cheers Rob
  25. I'm still having fun with the two little birds. Today I started with, guess what, decaling, but no more Lozenge, that is done. I applied the crosses, which worked well and let them dry. Then I finished the Brassin 08/15's with tiny bits of resin and PE. There are only the sights left, but they will be added after rigging. The planes got a semi matte coating mixed from Future with some Tamiya flat base stirred in. So far the twin project is progressing well and in a short while the SSW's will get rigged. I plan to keep rigging simple with elastic thread, completely done without the upper wing mounted, because all upper rigging points are on the struts, lets see how this works out. For a complete comparison, here is the complete line up of 08/15's 1) kit sans PE, 2) Brassin sans PE, 3) Brassin with PE and resin details and 4) Gaspatch Cheers Rob
