Thanks, I think that's the best way to go about it.

No. Tamiya Acrylic paint. The parts I question are headlight quards. I'll Have to paint the headlights before I put these in place. I suspect I'll have To use a slow setting glue, and use a brush to touch-up with paint any Glue that shows afterward. Perhaps I'll use CA gell, epoxy, or the pva canopy Glue I've been using. Not sure right now. These parts are ridiculously delicate and need carefull positioning. They are the FC Model Trend parts I posted A while back

Thanks I'll give both a try. Paul

What's the best glue to use with 3-d printed parts? I purchased some 3d printed parts for a kit I'm working on. These will probably be attached to a painted surface after they have also been painted. Paul.

Working on this now: A Trumpy 1/35 Soviet PT-76. So far an occasionally frustrating kit with some very tiny parts. I found myself on my knees searching for tiny parts that I thought I'd never find again. I did find them! Anyway, I think It'll turn out Ok. I've been spending a lot of time filling some holes for cable ends I decided I won't use. The string provided, well, I didn't like the looks of it. -

Now in finished armor. -
Finished up today. This was a fun build. I really like the looks of this quirky beast. I see Trumpeter has a few more of these Soviet tractors, including one called the Komintern that is a really strange looking thing with a long hood and funky-looking suspension system. This was my first try at Friulmodel tracks and they left a positive impression. I'm going to see about trying that chemical blackening solution. Anyway, Here are some pictures.

Voroshilovets 1/35 tractor.
belugawhaleman replied to belugawhaleman's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Thanks, but I chose a simpler approach. Since I decided not to do much weathering on my tractor, I sprayed the tracks with Testers non buffing metalizer gun metal which gave A nice blackish finish. After this dried, I used a q-tip soaked with liquid plastic cement to remove the paint from the high spots exposing the bare metal underneath. I think it looks OK. The tracks are on the model now. On my next model with metal tracks, I'll do the same, but I'll try a light rust wash. This will be the Trumpeter PT-76. -

Thanks; I started working on the Fruilmodel tacks. These are nice. I've made one side. About 70 Links. They required no clean-up, but I did run a .5mm drill through each link. It's time consuming to assemble these, but it's not as tedious as I thought it would be. They look Pretty good. -

Nearing completion Installed half the road wheels and the decals. Still in gloss coat. Excited about the Fruilmodel tracks; will they be fun to assemble or tedious repetition ,like painting the tires on the wheels? I noticed that the windows assemble from the outside into recesses around the outside of the window frames. I think the only way to glue these would be some of the canopy glue I have. But I'm wondering if the glue might still be visible when dried. Would it be best to thin the glue before applying? Anyway, some pictures. -

Just applied a clear gloss coat and the color deepened a bit. Looks better. There are only two small decals.......small red triangles. Next, I'll paint the tires On the road wheels, do the Friulmodel tracks, and then final assembly. A quick satisfying build so far. -
Got some paint on the Trumpeter Voroshilovets tractor I've been working on. The paint mix is a little lighter than I hoped for, but I think it's OK.

Looks like an interesting kit of a really good-looking aircraft. Thanks for the great pictures. Incidentally, I just looked at my YouTube subscriptions, and I see that the HyperScale channel has an unboxing video of this kit that came out about 13 hours ago It's HyperScale video workshop no.207 I'll see if I can provide a link, although your post Covers the kit very well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hgpyoe5LZxk

Me? In the car I leave the radio tuned to Chicago radio station WFMT A classical music station. When I'm working at my bench, I put the tv on a news channel and leave it. However, so much of what I hear on the news lately I find truly irritating (I'll leave my Political views out of this) so the news may no longer be an option. My mother suggested listening to audio books. I think I may try this. This would be, in effect, combining my two favorite pastimes.
