  1. I see that my local hardware store now stocks Mission Models paint in its "hobby section". Is this stuff any good? Just curious really, I'll continue to use my Tamiya acrylic paint.
  2. And now for something big.........A Trumpeter 1/16 scale SU-100. I found this within A large box at my front door today. This big model is a companion to the Trumpy T-34/76-1943 that I already have in my stash. Building this will be a massive undertaking. It has over 1000 parts! Anyway, here's a picture of the box. Update: I just ordered an aluminum barrel for this kit from a German vendor.....I'm sure that it'll take forever to ship. Also today came some glass Eye droppers and .4mm drill bits.
  3. This came via UPS today. A set of Friulmodel tracks for the Soviet PT-76 tank. The tracks are nicely Cast and come with four pieces to make a pair of drive sprockets that replace the kit (Trumpeter) sprockets. They are also nicely cast. The quality seems to be pretty good. What's most startling, however, is just how small the individual links are! I think there's a pretty good chance I'll go blind assembling these things. Each link requires cleaning out the link pin holes with a .4mm drill prior to assembly. I checked my stash of truly microscopic drill bits and found I didn't have that size, so I ordered a couple from McMaster-Carr. Those who might not be familiar with McMaster-carr will find that this outfit is a pretty good source for............well, just about everything. Anyway, here's A picture of the box.
  4. Thanks. Yes, I agree . Used in actual battle, these tanks would probably have been sitting ducks against the smaller but more mobile tanks used by the Germans.
  5. My local Ace Hardware has also discontinued MM paints.
  6. Finished. I had a heck of a time with tracks. The track pins are extremely small and Weak. And the tracks easily came apart when trying to fit them.It was kind of frustrating but I eventually got it done. Anyway, here's some pictures. Because of their fragility, I chose not to do additional weathering on the tracks I did give A slight rust wash but it does not really show in the pictures. https://forum.largescalemodeller.com/forum/57-lsm-work-in-progress/
  7. More photos. After clear flat coat and assembly with only tracks remaining. A picture includes A shot of model alongside a T-55 hull of same scale shows its A big tank.
  8. Some more progress. Paint and decals. Ready for the flat top coat and final assembly.
  9. I would like the see someone tackle that big Trumpy Titanic. Now that would be a build To remember.
  10. Four items arrived this week. All Soviet items: A Tamiya T-55, Trumpeter Voroshilovets tractor, A Trumpeter Bmp-1, and some Fruilmodel tracks for the Voroshilovets tractor. I've never used Fruilmodel Tracks before they look pretty good. The BMP-1 is a truly ugly vehicle, while the Voroshilovets is kind of cute.
  11. Here's A link to a site with close-up T55 pics: http://primeportal.net/tanks/jose_luis_silva_chang/t-55/
  12. Yes, I was thinking I would be seeing a Comet or a ME 162 ditch
  13. I actually have lots of lead wire in several sizes. What I need is some sort of complete diagram of the lines. I found some great closeups of a t55 that was in Peruvian service that helps. I was also wondering what to use for the small sections of hose that connect the pipes together. I thought, perhaps, that insulation stripped from wire could be used.
  14. Local news described it as a ; "World War two era jet".
  15. I've been looking at pictures of T-55 tanks on the Internet and I noticed the fuel lines on the external tanks. I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to replicate these or not. Any suggestions or resources would be appreciated. Thanks Paul
  16. Picked this up the other day............A Trumpy PT-76. It looks like a nice kit. I splurged on a set of Friulmodel tracks for it. It seems tiny compared to the Meng Char 2c I'm working on now. In common with the Char 2c, it's weird. I've included in the post a photo of the real thing .........I mean, just Look at the thing!.........Weird!
  17. Very nice work Rob! Anyway, I just purchased some Master Club tracks from BNA in Australia for my future T55 project. I also bought some Aber PE grills. I looked at some reviews of this kit and they're all good. Well, It will take forever for the tracks to come from down-under so it Will be awhile before I start this model. Incidentally, I also purchased a set of friulmodel tracks for a Trumpeter PT-76. These I ordered from a site in the U.S. I always wanted to make a model of the PT-76 and the Trumpeter kit looks OK. It's a weird tank and ,as I've said before, weird appeals to me Paul
  18. Thanks. It's ugly but in a charming way. It's weirdness is what attracted me to the model.
