Oh be joyful!! Just got an update on my shipment from California. It's in Indianapolis, Indiana. It doesn't really, (at least to me), make any sense for it to be there as I live in northeastern Illinois (Gurnee, Illinois) but we're talking fedex. I'm very disappointed with Fedex's handling of my HLJ order. I paid almost as much for shipping as the item itself. I've been looking for the Takom Whippet on a bunch of websites, always finding it out of stock. So when I saw it available on HLJ I jumped at the chance, never realizing it would lead to a frustrating experience.

The first time I ordered from Hobby link Japan I got the item in a week. that was not so long ago.

Sorry to hear that. I guess that's what I to look forward to. The Fedex customer representative cited trouble at their Memphis facility. I, (unfortunately) have used Fedex before, and have never recalled seeing Memphis in my tracking history before. I paid a lot for shipping to get this item from Japan. I'm not getting my money's worth.

Is anyone else having problems with Fedex lately? I have a package I'm waiting on from Hobby link Japan that's been sitting in Sennan-shi for over a week with no signs of movement or progress. I also have one coming from California, and the tracking hasn't been updated at all for over a week. All I know about that one is that it departed Bloomington California over a week ago. Both these shipments are being handled by Fedex.

This. came in the mail yesterday; A Meng medium tank A "Whippet" the Takom Whippet is also on its way from Hobbylink Japan.

Unfortunately, my model building endeavors have been put on hold this week because my mother was hospitalized for trouble with her gallbladder. Yesterday, she had surgery to remove the gallbladder, and is now doing well. I'll get back this build when I can. The braided fishing line I'll use for the wiring arrived on Monday. It looks like it might work out ok.

Yes, I noticed that ! I saw a lot of tempting stuff there, including a punch for punching hex shapes, I never heard of such a thing.

Harv, Nice work on your engine. How did you attach your ignition wires? Had a look at the UMM usa website. Interesting.

That's a lot of tiny bolts you've added there! Those Meng sheets are really useful. I recently assembled the Tamiya Char 1 bis. It went together like a dream! it's been put aside for now waiting to be painted. I'll get to that------someday.

Thanks. I just ordered some braided line from Amazon. It's .012" thick. I was going to use .O15" lead wire. I ordered silver, but I figured I could paint it before adding it to the model. I figured I could use medium CA to glue it to the spark plugs using a little accelerator to help things along. Paul

Today I added the metal pipe that holds the spark plug wires. I made this from brass tube and used jb weld kwik to attach it to the engine. I painted it. with Ak bronze. I also used Tamiya black panel line highlighter in a few places. I plan to add spark plug wires but I haven't decided how I'm going to do this right now. I have some lead wire but I may buy some braided fishing line.

Sorry if I misunderstood your comment. My reply was a little pathetic and I'm sorry for that. I also like my models to look clean. the tank I'm modeling will be a Brazilian ft as delivered in 1920 or thereabouts. I may put this build aside as I am really tempted to build that Meng Char 2c or my Takom British Mk IV Male tank. Paul.

Thanks... I think . Another "showroom" comment. I do plan to try to weather it but my skills might be lacking, I guess. perhaps I'll give up on this one.

I tried to make the magneto look like this one on a restored engine. I haven't yet finished the engine yet so I'll try to dirty it up a bit. I've also made the tube for the ignition wires but I'm not sure how to attach it yet.

That's right, I've started another Takom Renault ft. working on the engine right now.

Has anyone used a laser printer to make their own decals? I see there is laser printer specific water-slide decal printer paper available that requires no spraying of a gloss coat after printing. any info or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I just got this Meng kit. It's their 1/35 scale Char 2 c model of a huge inter-war French tank. looks like it will be a nice build. A quick perusal of the kits part shows excellent molding and details.

I picked up one of Miniart's 1/35 Focke-Wulf Triebflugels . I plan to make up my own paint scheme and markings.

I bought myself some nippers. The Trumpeter single blade cutter. I read the comments about these on this forum and ordered them straight away.

Trumpeter T34/76 1943 in 1/16 scale.
