Ernie You're not alone in the disappearing part department. I've lost a few parts over the past few years, putting them down on the bench during a work session and after a few hours - going back for them, only to be amazed I couldn't find them. I credited the carpet monster with being extra hungry. Now that's the way to tech aeronautics and I'm sure a budding pilot or engineer in the makings. Keep 'em comin Peter

PRIMING and COLORCOATS Finally reached the point of being ready for the initially priming; MRP Light Gray, with the major goal of finding missed gaps, sanding marks and any assorted errors and I’m proud to say; I found them. Out came Mr Surfacer, Tamiya Filler again and back to work. Looking pretty good now and all the imperfections I found were cleaned up and gone. A few more layers of primer to cover the corrected areas and it was time for the color coats. The windows came out ok, not perfect and since I’m using decals for all the glass, the small imperfections will help locate the window and windshield decals. I decided on Mr Color Gloss Lacquers for all color coats. First up was the wings and the aftermarket decals by BOA instructions call out FS 16492 Gray and of course, I didn’t have the color in my paint stash, I mixed the color and it matched the paint chip and color on my monitor. I have a BenQ photographic monitor that is color calibrated weekly so what I saw on the monitor was very close to the actual color. I couldn’t find any useable photographs of the upper wing surfaces for this specific aircraft and referring to the BOA instructions the upper and bottom surfaces of the wings were the same color gray, except for the leading ledges. Other Embraer’s in UIA markings wore a different color scheme and the wings were painted in a more traditional manor with the center area being a darker gray, which most modelers refer to as correguard. Next up was masking out the leading edges: Alclad Polished Aluminum and it replicated the polished looked quite nicely. I gave each paint color a good 24 hours to dry to be on the safe side. Finally, I re-masked the wings again and prepped the fuselage. Paint of choice: Mr Color Gloss White thinned with Self Leveling Thinners and a few drops of Mild Retarder was added to the mix, to ensure the paint would flow and self-level, leaving a wonderful smooth surface, so I can decal right just as auto modelers do. Locating the correct blue turned out to be a hunt as usual, as the BOA decal instructions calls out for FS15052, which I could only find here in the States only in the Life Color range. It’s in the paint stash now just in case I need it for a touchup/backup. Next up: decaling and working on the engines, pylons and the gear. Keep ‘em comin Peter

Gaz Got ya and completely agree - your purchase was a deal and at the same time helping out liquidate the stash of a club member who passed away. I was speaking more towards purchasing on line and on ebay (I try not to) to make sure I know which version I was buying and if there was a more recent one with extras. Keep 'em comin Peter

Bill Nice progress, glad the scribing is done and out of the way - my least favorite part of any build. I also use a lot of Mr Surfacer: 500 and 1200 gray - works so well. Keep 'em comin Peter

Rob Looking so good. The ladder treads do look so much more in scale after you went to work on them. Rigging for canons - I'm uneasy about the rigging being up in the air - shouldn't it lay flat on the deck or am I missing something? Keep 'em comin Peter

Gaz I'm with Phil unless it's a new kit, I'll check Scalemates to see if I'm buying the latest release. When I bought my 1/12 Tamiya 312T, I neglected to that and wound up buying and expensive kit from 1975 and after the fact discovered Tamiya released the kit not to many years ago with new decals and PE. Just not going to make that mistake again. Keep 'em comin Peter
