  1. Phil As long as you are happy with the results, that's all that's counts. From the photos you posted, your build looked great. I've lost count of how many times in the past, I've had to go back, strip the kit down to bare plastic or sand off portions of the paint and start over. I just try to learn my my mistakes and going that route, I should be a genius Keep 'em comin Peter
  2. Thanks Mark Just a great kit with no vises at all Keep 'em comin Peter
  3. Hi Phil, so very much appreciated your kind comments on the Big F4. Got ya. Vallejo is an acrylic and AK Extreme Metals are enamel based. I don't think the AK would eat into the Vallejo paint but the finish might not be as smooth or very metallic as you are looking for. Am I close? Any reason why you didn't use different shades of Vallejo or you just didn't like how they worked? For me, I might have taken a break, re-grouped the troops and sanded the offending area smooth, as you can control the sanding area and then masked and repainted with the black base. Not sure if this was an option or not. I decided before I began the build how much I wanted to play around with the burner area and what colors I would use and kept it at that. I'm still going to add a bit more 'burnt look' with Tamiya clears, thinned well and brushed on and maybe a slight dusting of soot - no decision yet. My goal for the build was the overall finish and that includes going very light on the panel lines, only looking at doing the major ones and the control surfaces. My models are if anything only slightly weathered and representative of how we would see them ready for deployment or in a museum (my display case is my mini museum). The Tamiya decals are their best ye, lay down nicely but not as thin as Cartograf. Keep 'em comin Peter
  4. Ernie Fingers crossed and I thinking the way to go is with increasing the drill bit size as you go. Good luck! Do some testing and see which works best. Keep 'em comin Peter
  5. Craig Brilliant work and as always, I'm completely blown away. Keep 'em comin Peter
  6. Unfortunately the world continues to change when it comes to hobbies and for younger people they first spent all their time on the PC playing games and now, if you can't play it or do it on your smart phone, they aren't interested. Plus add in social media and hobbies that require time working at a bench or table, learning new skills will be gone when we are. Keep 'em comin Peter
  7. Looking forward to the F4B and I'm sure for $300, it is going to be my one expensive purchase for the year. Keep 'em comin Peter

  12. Thanks Carl Fingers crossed and hoping for the best. Hoping the storm moves to the east, put it out over the ocean when it passes us and maybe not too serve in New England which is just north of us. Keep 'em comin Peter
  13. Ernie Looking so good and then the canopy - just seems there is something always around the corner to bite us. Just go with the other canopy - is it possible to drill out the hole for the sight tube? Keep 'em comin Peter

  16. I live on Long Island, New York and Hurricane Henri storm track has been slowly moving to the west and that unfortunately means Henri is targeting the middle of the island. Hopefully the track might change again to the east but the forecast doesn't look good. The hurricane should hit us sometime late tomorrow, shore and beach areas have received evacuation notices. Going to be a bad weekend. 🌩️ Keep 'em comin Peter
  17. Smitty Thanks for the info. Sounds great Keep 'em comin Peter

  19. Hubert Well said and you're right on the money. ROI is the number one priority or staying in business will be a dream that doesn't come true. I'm sitting tight and seeing what happens but until there is an actual production model to see, as (CAD drawings unfortunately carry no weight or value). So I'm not getting excited as who knows. Keep 'em coming Peter

  23. I just read this announcement on Sprue Brothers website: NEW FAMILY OF 1:32 F-4 PHANTOMS In partnership with Phantom Phreaks, we have been working on a very special project that we can finally announce - a new family of 1:32 F-4 Phantom kits. Twelve (12) versions are planned beginning in 2022. Tentatively the first release will be the F-4B. Stay tuned for more details in the coming months. Click here to see the video announcement If this is really going to happen, I couldn't ask for more Keep 'em comin Peter
  24. Just received a newsletter from DN Models and low and behold I read about JetMads for the first time. www.jetmads.com Their first run of 500 units of the 1/32 Viggens and Skystreak sold out in what seemed an instance to me and a second run of Viggens is supposed to be ready for August (?). Their releases are amazing but with production runs so short, Pre-orders are the only way to purchase a kit - which receive a 20% discount. I assuming the only way to pre order a kit, is to keeping checking their website as to when a kit will be available. One planned aircraft that caught my eye was the 1/48 B-47 and a number of other as well. Anyone have one of their kits or have any first hand knowledge of the kits and the company?
