  1. Rob I'll pull down the Tamiya box with the finished body and take a few pics. I'm just very cautious of toxic chemicals/paints and keeping the over spray down helps a lot. I did use Gravity lacquers from Spain as they are the correct automotive colors and shipping was pretty fast and not that expensive to the US. Keep 'em comin Peter
  2. Tom Amazing work and thank you for the mini tutorial on how you go about making the much need wing spars Keep 'em comin Peter

  5. Oliver I'm speechless simply amazing work. What a shame some of your incredible detail work will be lost behind the firewall. Just makes us mere morals, more and more envious with each update. Keep 'em comin Peter
  6. Wolf I'm holding you to finishing this beauty .. beautiful work on the office. Keep 'em comin Peter

  8. Rob Brilliant progress and love the paint work. I've started a few car kits over the past year, to practice on the body finish. My brother builds 100% race cars and his body finishes look very impressive, so anything I do, gets critiqued to the hilt. I've worked out a system that works for me and I don't use a high psi working pressure with a ton of over spray. Step 1: wear a good respirator and always paint in a paint booth, especially with solvent based paints. Step 2: Primer - I prefer MRP Gray primer - light cotes and after dry, I rub it out through 12,000 micro mesh Step3: color coats - Thin light layers, at around 15 psi and when dry, rub it out through 12,000 micro mesh Surface is perfectly smooth and it's decal time For the clear cote, I use either Mr Color Super Clear Gloss or Tamiya F22 Clear Gloss both thinned out with Mr Color Self Leveling Thinner. I'm not a fan of 2K as it's nasty stuff and extra precautions need to be take but does yield excellent results. When the Clear Cote has thoroughly dried, I rub it out and then polish the body using the polish set from Gravity. I'm very pleased with the results but the deep shine while looking great on a model, isn't that realistic except on a show car. Hope this helps and you're giving me the erg to pull a car kit out of the stash - Oh no. Keep 'em comin Peter
  9. Gaz Your dio base is looking so good and the way you are going about it, it's nearly bomb proof. Nothing seems to daunt you from the task at hand Keep 'em comin Peter
  10. Gaz Right with Kai and Harv ... one good looking front office with wonderful operational weathering. Keep 'em comin Peter
  11. Kai The underside is looking awesome and the weathering effects are right on the money. Seeing how much fitting, tweaking and re-working has been involved and correcting Italeri's gem, your progress has to be commended. If it was me, the kit would never have been built, in fact, I decided to sell my Mirage and upgrade resin as I know now I will never attempt it; so far no interest from any of the members. Looking forward to your up coming pics of the finished undersides. Keep 'em comin Peter
  12. Carl Nice kits and 1/144th scale. Looking forward to a build thread on each. Enjoy Keep ‘em comin Peter

  19. Hi Carl Plan on placing my SB order today and it sure looks like the Phantom will be jumping right to the top of my build list. The F-4B is my favorite Phantom - not sure why but it is. A build thread for sure. Your LHS handled the pre orders very well and I’m sure the kit will sell out quickly. Keep ‘em comin Peter
  20. Rog Nice addition to the collection ... looking forward to the 188 build thread. Keep 'em comin Peter
  21. Sprue Bros is now taking preorders for the Tamiya 1/48 F-4B: MSRP: $117 Sale Price:$ 93.99 Hard to believe another 1/48th scale kit reaching the near $100 but for the quality of Tamiya, it's par for the course. Yes, I plan on buying a few but just one right now. I still have four 48th scale F-4 Phantoms in the stash and the ZM F-4J to finish (she is ready for the paint shop). I have a few kits I plan on selling now to finance the F4B's; HB B-26B Package and the KH Kingfisher with Eduard PE as well. After tangling with KH P-39, I have no desire to build any more KH kits. Will be posting in the Kits for Sale Forum later today. Keep 'em comin Peter
  22. John Got ya and I’ll be waiting anxiously for your next build project. Keep ‘em comin Peter
