  1. Thank you. I’ve already done a pin wash and an overall yellow ochre wash. I’ve also done some rain marks with a few more layers to go. Once that is done I’ll limit it to some dust. As it was a short tussle in the summer heat, making it look really beat up wouldn’t be a good option unless I could realistically batter the schurzen supports and Fenders.
  2. That looks awesome! Welcome to the forum! Quite a believable weathering job.
  3. I've been doing small bits of work on this III... mostly with oils and paint brush... So here we go.... I started with the tracks... The outer, lighter metaled bits are where the teeth of the drive sprocket engage. The Guide teeth are also a lighter metal shade. Oils will follow to give the the parts rubbed clean buy the rubber wheels a more steel look. Then I started chipping. There was only three places for the crew of the M to egress. And I have seen a couple close ups in books showing the area around the cupola looking pretty chipped up from hobnailed boots. These are the outer doors of the turret schurzen. instead of swinging to the side like the PZ IV, they drop down and form a bridge. Comments on the chipping would be very welcome. Personally I think the effort looks very heavy handed. I need a finer tipped brush, and my hands don't have muscle memory for chipping, yet. I also cut masks for the markings. I used an off white which is half white and half RLM 02. This is a Totenkopf tank, so the three bars used at Kursk are painted with a slightly greyed black. The large rivets around the tail markings will call for some touch up. You can see the blue tint on the rubbed still portion of the tracks. Still need a bit of brown washed over the blue. And finally the marks for the Turret Schurzen. The zero markings are only .3mm wide. I'm not sure about the center line. i've seen them painting numbers on some historical footage, they used a stipple brush and a cardboard stencil. So... I'm guessing that the rivets got in their way sometimes, too. Anyway... comments and hints appreciated. I really wanna improve my game. Thanks for looking! Gaz
  4. I was reading a post over at TOS and I met this guy starting his own business. Said he had a couple of kits to get sell, so we made a connection. He hadn't quite got around to posting them anywhere else at the time. So, we struck a bargain and I got a fair deal quite near retail plus shipping from. Here they are:
  5. My apologies for any of Google's failure to provide an accurate translation.
  6. On the French Tricolor, blue comes first. Red first would look RAF.
  7. Thanks mate!
  8. It looks very good, Phil! Love the tone of your CDL.
  9. Thank you, Sir!
  10. Looking good. I'll be interested to see how you weather this as I have a silver-doped finish in the future somewhere.
  11. Nicely done!
  12. Thank you, fellas! Better pics would show all of the faults....
  13. Thank you, Phil! I've cracked a couple of canopies before... so I almost feel comfortable working with them. Thanks Rob. I happened upon a few pics recently of other ppl modifying canopies. The trick is to make a line of starter holes with a sharp object far about 1-2 MM inside the panel you want to remove. Then, drill out the holes so the make a connect-the-dot pattern for your razor saw to file. This cuts out easily. It keeps the saw blade from wandering. Then, you remove whats left with files and sandpaper. Gaz
  14. Friends... Meanwhile work slowly progresses on the Dornier. Most of the nacelle related parts... some detail painting to do after the oil pinwash and dry-brush. I've started making the exhausts look burnt. And I fashioned the lower hatch from a sheet of aluminum. And I had to modify the greenhouse for the Kauz I. The kit comes with two optional greenhouses. One for the bomber, and the other for Kauz II with IR scope protruding through. The kit would have you just add the armored windscreen over the hole for the IR scope. I thought that wouldn't look good, so I took the risk of sawing out the errant panel and then glue on the armored windscreen. Anyway... thanks for looking! Gaz
  15. A while back I partially completed a Meng Leopard 2A4. I had waited an eternity for the figures to arrive from Korea. Meanwhile the MG and mount went missing. Of course, I had assumed I had mislaid the parts somewhere. But eventually I gave up on seeing them again. Then, a few weeks ago they turned up at the foot of my bedroom door. Since the tile floor had been vacuumed and mopped a number of times in the interim, I now assume that our cat had made a toy of both MG and mount. So now.... here are the figures and gun where they belonged atop the turret. I never did add the tow cables. There was no part or place with any kind of locator device for the end that rested on top of the hull. So... to avoid a potentially gluey mess fighting the steel cables into place... I just left them off. I thank all of you for your concern at the time that things were missing! Gaz
  16. Truly.... the FW IP is so hard to see. I like the UV gel, too!
  17. That should make one helluva display!
  18. Nice work!
  19. Maybe a Devil's night joke from our esteemed moderator?
  20. Wow, Rob! Great job! It really looks like a worn, used bird!
  21. Wow, great job!
  22. This is a nice, yet strange kit. Most of it has engraved panel lines. Yet, the largest dorsal piece has raised lines. It has quite a few small molded-on projections. I accidentally sanded two off. Broke off four others, and never managed to get 4 others to remain straight. And the missiles... unless you're like me, you'll end up looking for some AM. ICM... they put everything except the transparent parts in one bag, and the kit suffers for it. Still.... you won't find much better.
  23. Really great result, Phil!
  24. Looks nice!
