  1. You would basically have to do your own entire cockpit build. Rick Kranius was doing one here IIRC. And I;m sure there would have been at least one over at TOS.
  2. Thank you for your reply, Hubert. I started with the brown areas using lightly thinned burnt umber. Once dried and cleaned up, I decided that it was not dark enough. And added pthalo blue, and it looked much darker while wet. Once dried and cleaned up, you get what you see now. I’m trying to refrain from using black as it doesn’t darken brown, but makes greater changes. Darkening green takes more than just adding blue. Again, adding black causes huge transition that I wish to avoid, but too much blue alone causes an unwelcome shift. So I added burnt umber to it to get a more pleasing green. And for the yellow areas I had to avoid black totally as it would look very unnatural to me. In total, this is all a learning exercise as I try to thread my way between art and reality. I would like to find a talented artist to talk to about creating shadows that look like shadows. Perhaps this is something I can find online.
  3. Hi everyone, Seems like ages since my last update. A lot of those days, I just felt like I was spinning my wheels and accomplishing very little. All work done so far with oils. And I haven't touched the RLM 76 areas at all. I am torn between the armor modellers instincts to make the details pop, and the aero modellers instincts to jeep everything subtle... so, my pin washes are all done in darker shades of each individual base color. If you have a thought on what you see... please feel free to share it. Thanks!
  4. Well done, Kevin! Looks great, and I know how much work goes into completing a PCM kit.
  5. I have read lots of negative about them including that they aren't opaque. I would try somebody else first.
  6. So Terrible! Those poor people!
  7. I'm actually doing just that. I haven't taken photos yet because I believe everything will look differently under a matte coat. But I'm trying to keep it subtle. Not very easy, and I'm really not sure what it will look like in the end.
  8. An amazing video., Carl. Thanks for sharing! I wonder if ppl in the RC world build dive tank and air pressure systems, or if that had to be cobbled by hand.
  9. One of my fears... is that i won't get them all built before... you know... whatever comes when it comes.
  10. Theoretically, that's my plan, too.
  11. Thank you. Great idea.
  12. Oh, I have already scrubbed the ones I want seen. But the issue is the area immediately around the rivet. Even the most flush rivet causes slight deformation of the surrounding aluminum. Here, paint is 'deeper' than paint in less stressed areas. Am I making sense? So, when the paint is stressed by buffing and polishing, a slight difference can be seen... lemme illustrate an extreme example:
  13. Attention Deficit Disorder? I'm not sure. I think I got too many things going at once, and then tackled this 109 and the rivets... lately I've been trying to weather them... but I feel failure in the offing.
  14. Dude... yer killing it lately! Marley's ghost... the pain!
  15. Nice build, Scott! Sorry I missed it.
  16. What do you call it when you can hardly make yourself thinking of advancing any of the builds you have started, and only thinking about builds you could start grabbing your attention?
  17. Nice Garage. Show us pics in a few months once you get a few center folds up on the walls. Looking kind of bare.
  18. Looks good, Chris!
  19. Would it be allowed for a non-amphibious vehicle or aircraft in a semi- or fully submerged state to partake?
  20. Looks great! FWIW, I have never known which way the Facis went.
  21. I've never had the pleasure.
  22. Nice work, Chris. I've never had much luck gluing painted parts on. Which glue do you use? And... what if putty is required?
  23. I had a similar problem. 😪
