I was window shopping on eBay for “1/32 resin” to see what popped up. Started seeing a lot of Barracuda products and all were from China. There is also BarracudaCast which is the real deal sold by various vendors. But this Chinese counterfeit company is reproducing Barracuda Studios parts down to a “T” and just goes by the name “Barracuda”. Shop carefully.

What’s the humidity like in your neck of the woods? I was out on Las Vegas in June when it was 103F. It was actually comfortable as long as you weren’t in the direct sun. People we met up with were complaining about it. Told them to visit SC this time of the year.

"Alert 1 to Eagle 1, splash the Zeros!"- Tamiya F-14
ScottsGT replied to BlrwestSiR's topic in Let’s Get Wet Group Build.
I just picked up something new watching the dogfight scene yet once again. The walkway on top of the intake is only on the left side, not both sides like a lot of decals have. I’m sitting here looking at Tamiya decals and they are black. Got a Revell set that is yellow. Movie appears to be a medium gray. -
Back together again! Amazing how much better it looks with correct wing droop and not rise. just a few inches of seams to fill and correct. I did discover a major color shade difference from the original paint work. Especially the bottom FS white. I didn’t put enough down the first time and I’m going to have to go back and lay down a bit more to get it right.

WOW!! I hope mine turns out half as nice as yours has. Very impressive weathering skills.

Given your space limitations, you’re doing great! If you were closer I’d give you an old roll around emergency AC unit I have in storage. It’s one of those stand alone units that you exhaust out through a window.

Revell/SH Hawker Tempest in 1/32-Finished
ScottsGT replied to KevinM's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
OK, I couldn’t stand it any longer. Ordered a kit off eBay the other night. Hopefully the wife will be too busy with the birthday party for the grands to notice a box on the front porch. What was your choice of wash used? -
Making some progress here finally. Repaint on the wings might be done this evening. I did the tops first using the black base method. On the bottom, white primer and then some gray tones to bring out the marbling effect and panel lines. I think I’ve watched the dog fight scene in Carl’s thread 20 times already trying to pick up on weathering and colors. I did notice that the bottoms of the ailerons were left white during the transition while the rest of the bottom was FS17875 white. Just gotta let the white dry so I can tape it up now.

You guys just got me in trouble. All this Tempest talk got my “I Wants” all in a tither. Scored a Special Hobby kit for $80 shipped off eBay last night. Of course once the CC cools off a little (ordered some aftermarket for my 1/48 Space 1999 Eagle kit) I’ll be ordering the Barracuda nose correction for it as well. I figured since I have the old Revell Typhoon kit I needed a Tempest to go with it. Now I need to build these kits.

Hey Mark, like other suggested, small and quick and get ‘er done! Very interesting timing on this thread. Just earlier today I was sitting at my bench and looking at the mess I made of my Revell F-14 (see WIP thread for my embarrassing screw up) and realized I need to build my bigger and more complicated subjects in the winter and during the spring and summer distractions stick to smaller and quicker builds or repeat builds I can knock out faster.

A friend just came over earlier. I got to vent with him over the lawn. My 84 yo FIL comes to visit and he brings a huge dog he has no business owning at his age. Huge dogs leave huge piles and he’s never cleaned up behind a dog in his life. It’s kind of satisfying watching my wife run around the yard with bags in hand picking up behind him. I hate to admit it, but as I get older, I’m better understanding the old guy in the neighborhood when I was a kid that was yelling at anyone that dared step foot on his grass. I have an M1 Garand and a classic Ford in the garage. I’m about to go Walt Kowalski around here.

Well, found the confusing part. I don’t feel too bad now. Each wing is labeled “Bottom Right” and “Bottom Left”. Problem is, it’s not the bottom, but rather the top. Right and left are correct. So I’ve just wet sanded them down and getting ready to re-spray before installing them. Oh, and add insult to injury? The wife set up the grandkids inflatable pool in the back yard. Had a hole in it. It deflated and she left it there two days. Looks like I get to have fun with sod next week. 😡 Everyone is like oh well, it will grow back. Obviously they are idiots about a yard.

Bill, that’s worse than a country song! Our son flew home from Ft. Carson 2 weeks ago today. We went to North Myrtle Beach the following Saturday for a week, but he flew out Friday back to Colorado Springs. We kept watching his first leg of his flight getting delayed and once he saw it was in the air we headed to the airport. Apparently the pilot put it in overdrive. He almost didn’t make the flight. Got to Dallas and no flights home until Sunday afternoon. At least he has an old friend in Dallas that picked him up and he stayed with him until his flight home.

Hey Carl, I just noticed a major boo-boo on the HAD Models decal sheet. The bottom fin decals are both for the left side! When time comes, I’m going to make an attempt to cut one corner out, flip it around and then add the straights for the right side. -

I’m thinking I need to get me one of these kits. Your build is outstanding! -
Middle of South Carolina. Actual temps are 97-98. Heat index with humidity makes it “feel like” 107. I went outside for 10 min to hose down part of the yard. Came in saturated from sweat. We call it “Swampass season”.

Hubert, that a little extreme don’t you think? LOL! Come on guys! Let’s get going and make this group build a huge success!!
