Sitting on my porch, panting like a dog…

That meme could easily be retagged “My shelf of doom looking at me”. Each squirrel is a started project that stalled because SQUIRREL!

I’ll have to actually talk with him next time I see him. His step dad is the kind that doesn’t pick up on details too much. I think I am wrong on what he’s training to fly right now. Dad told me yesterday it’s a King Air not the Gulfstream. I think what got him the golden ticket is when he went to command and requested a new training partner. His was from the Middle East and was taking unnecessary risks trying to be a cowboy. Apparently Rucker is a NATO training base and not just US Army. But they saw how safety conscious he was. -
Exactly. SQUIRREL! I’d have to break my new rule of open a kit, finish the kit without interruption. It seems with every build I get to a certain point and SQUIRREL!! I have to reel myself in and slap myself on the back of the hand. If I was to attempt it soon, I’d have to have quick build distraction kits set aside to jump on for a few days or weeks. Honestly, I need to retire from retirement. It’s wearing me out.

Looks great! One day I’ll be brave enough to pull out my 1/200 kit and get started.

Nice look inside one of these kits. Thanks Ernie. My best friends step son just completed Army flight school for helicopters down at Ft. Rucker. Upon completion of the course, he was reassigned back to school for fixed wing. He pulled the golden ticket! He’ll spend his career flying around dignitaries and will probably never have to wear standard issue camo again. Right now they are in the Gulfstream but the Army is transitioning to the Bombardier real soon. He’s actually getting sent to Canada to start his training, so it sounds like he’s getting one of the first new ones in the fleet. -
HKM kits across the board have gone up in price. The big B-17’s are just under the $400 mark

Great info! Thanks!!

I absolutely love my HP-CS. But….always a but in the crowd, isn’t there? I’d like to have an adjustable trigger stop on the end cap for occasional close up work. Does anyone know if the preset handle I5855 or I1555 will work?

Ditto! I bought the Ryobi edger because everything else had a heavy motor up top I had to hold up or an older design with a small B&S driving a spinning blade via a belt. That thing was 75 lbs that I would have to push uphill when edging. I think I have about 1200 ft of edging I do when I mow. The Ryobi has impressed me so much that if it died tomorrow, I’d order another one. At first glance, it appears to be built like a cheap toy. But it flat out works. Also have a Craftsman Skil Saw dad bought me as a house warming gift when we bought our first home back in 1991 or ‘92. A few years later for our second home he bought me a wheel barrel. Handles are rotten, but I’m going to “restore” it this summer.

I think that’s part of the joke…..

Go do some searching for Tom Mabe videos. He was a guy that pranked telemarketers. He had one where a carpet cleaning company called him. He went into a panic and asked how well they could remove fresh blood out of a carpet. Like it was just put there in the past few minutes. And a lot of it. here it is! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ohQCAFNrU60

How’s your heart doing? Make sure you’re sitting down first. That’s the one thing that I understand that prices have tripled on in the past 3-4 years. It was a perfect trifecta. Glass costs skyrocketed, labor costs have risen and vinyl for windows is based on petroleum costs. Honestly, I would run the cost of windows against energy savings vs. life expectancy. Now if they just look like crap and killing the view, that’s a different cause. We’re going to have to replace ours sometime soon because they just look like crap. And we bought this place for the view. Wife wants to put it off, I told her we aren’t getting any younger and we need to enjoy the view before we go blind from old age. We did windows about 13 years back at the old home and it was $11k. Friend just got a quote, but a few more windows and it was $70k. Had another guy tell him he could swap out just the glass panes for under $20k. Some brands like Anderson and Pella are the worst for high pricing. Shop around carefully.

Not an option with the Revell kit. I did sand the opening and smoothed it out the best I could, but it still leaves marks where it slid. But the real thing does as well from some pics I’ve seen in the past. Thankfully with fast drying lacquers it shouldn’t be too big of a concern. I do remember that my last one I had the wings in, sprayed the LE and then opened them up for the rest of the spray. It was so long ago that I did it with enamels. It was the short lived VX-4 black bunny. Funny thing was, I built a jig to paint it. Plywood base with two dowels to go up inside the fuselage before I mounted the exhausts. I even brought it with me when we moved. Wife needed a piece of plywood for something and I looked at it and told myself, “I’ll just use this. I’m never building an F-14 again.” D’oh! Now I’ve got to make another.

Oh no. That’s how you wind up with a shelf of doom overflowing into a closet of doom!

Ha! I beat the wind this morning. Got up and it was calm out so I put the vent back in the window and went at it. No kidding, as soon as I hung up the airbrush, winds started kicking up a fuss again. Im looking at whitecaps again. We were expecting high winds throughout the night.

So when do you built the 1/32 aircraft carrier to put these on for display? I’m glad to know I’m not the only one that found a “niche” model they like to build. Apparently mine is the F-16 with 9 under my belt and 6 more in the stash. Funny thing is, I like the Phantoms better but have only built 3 with something like 9 in the stash. Go figure. -
Lake life has a few disadvantages. One big one is high winds. It started yesterday afternoon with 15-20 MPH winds. I had to pull my vent panel out of the window because I have had it blow in one time. Today we’re getting just a bit higher winds with gusts to 30 MPH. Apparently the same for tomorrow. So the F-14 is all dressed up with no where to go.

Reminds me of when I was an auto bodyman and painter. More time was spent talking crap about who did the work rather than enjoying the finished product. Of course exception was taken for the custom painters that wouldn’t replace door hinges first and the door slapping the fender and quarter took big chunks of paint off the car.

It’s a USA thing. Red cases in background are Milwaukee power tools. Kid upfront has DeWalt power tools. Bring up tool brands anywhere and purse swinging starts. Like Chevy vs. Ford. High school rivalry. Basically, immaturity. FWIW, I’m mostly Milwaukee but I love my Dewalt contractors table saw and garage shelving. I also have Makita and a few other brands in. I know guys with the attitude of “If XXXX doesn’t make it, I won’t buy one.”

What number is this build John? If we ever have a Corsair group build, you’re going to be required to build it while blindfolded!
