Fuselage buttoned up. Canopy happiness. Nothing says happiness & glee more that the joy of cutting out a vacuform canopy. After lessons from a near disaterious cut on the cockpit canopy I had much better results with the vacuform nose glazing. Interior canopy frame added to Vacuform canopy then secured and masked. I added some wiring/plumbing inside the cockpit and again I lost the images. Trust me they're there. I had a ton of fit issues and I have plenty of angst hoping the final results will be ok. Inside framing scratchbuilt, suspect fit of main canopy...what could possibly go wrong? Masking complete. Initial coat of interior green. Tamiya 1:32 Mossie called for XF-71 for interior. I used the same color for the 1:48 build. Perhaps not the best color selection, should have used MRP RAF interior green. I'll have to live with this.

After making a form out of MilliPut from an extra canopy I used .30 rod to construct inside canopy frame. After spot glue I took a hair dryer to form the rod. Trimmed and painted. Sorry for crummy out of focus image.

Engine nacelles tricked up with some Eduard PE and strategically placed styrene to hide ejector marks. Alclad alumnimum and some wash detail added. PE fenders truly make a difference from the chunky kit fenders.

Taking a break from some "therapeutic" resin builds and conversions I decided to go smaller scale with this Mossie. Will build as PR variant. Current WIP's SH Tempest Mk.V, TAM A6M2b and TRU P40B tucked away while I tackle this project.

I've always used Florys wash and I will be using MPLW overall on an aircraft build for the first time. Big Question On Surface Prep: An acrylic gloss is recommended to prepare surface for MPLW. What do you all use? I'm thinking on using Tamiya Clear thinned with Gunze Leveling Thinner. Using Gunze Leveling Thinner a bad idea? I used MRP overall and the finish is a nice sheen MPLW works fine on MRP surface. However, should I protect the decals with acrylic gloss? Any coaching will be appreciated. Thanks - Rick

Had to replace a warped part. After filling out the online request I was asked to submit the original UPC code. Revell USA received UPC code from me 24 March. New part arrived 4 April. I also received confirmation from Revell USA on receipt and status. It was a painless experience. Kudos Revell USA Customer Service! Now, if they would just get to work on some Ju88 variations. 388, 188, C2...

Our family owned hardware store is closing after over 50 years serving our community. It was also located less than a mile from our house. Typical Saturday mornings usually included a trip to the farmers market and a stop of the hardware store on the way home. Really sad to see this place shut down and I hope the employees, most have been there as long as I can remember, secure another job. Now I have to schlep over 3 miles in congested traffic to Home Depot. Close-out sale yielded me enough sandpaper to last till the apocalypse and multiple drill bits for my MV Lenses and future drilling needs at a great discount.

Great effort on the canopy. Time to get out some polishing compound. Overall, this build just screams perfection and skill. Bravo Jeroen. Now lets get a pic of this next to your Ju88. -
So sorry for response delay Danny. I got sidetracked and completely forgot. Apologies, please. The issues I have discovered to date: Heavy riveting on the tail plane Heavy opening for the formation lights Cockpit depth is too short Main wheels are a multi piece assembly nightmare More details on issues when I bring this back to the bench. I hope to resume on this and the A6M2b this summer. Stay tuned.

Everything looks exemplary as you nailed the "acquired, repaired, stored & somewhat forgotten" look. The display configuration adds so much. Watching the final rounds. This will look interesting displayed next to your Ju88. -
I'm 1:1 ratio. I apply multiple thin layers and use leveling thinner. Then after 36 hour dry I give it a light go over with a 6000 grit cloth. It's a pain, but it works for me.

Apollo 11 Command Module at the NSAM/Udvar Hazy Mary Baker Restoration Hangar being prepared for its multi city US tour to acknowledge the 50th Anniversary of that little July 1969 event. After showing this to my kids they think I am a rock star. It's always good being the cool Dad in the neighborhood.

Hawker Hurricane Mk IIc LF686 on display at NASM Udvar Hazy Cenetr. This aircraft was built at the Langley Factory, near what is now Heathrow Airport, early in 1944. Enjoy the images and I hope they can be helpful for any future build of yours. There will be a Fly Hurricane in my future.

Gun Charger handles. The gnat size Eduard handles were just that...gnat size. I made my own with some .5mm styrene rods. Painted NATO Black. Trim and install...wait for it. After I installed the handles I was feeling real proud of myself. I opened my reference book to discover these handles were RED. They will remain NATO Black.
