I wonder if it's 1/18?
-
Thanks guys! For a kit that doesn't have any fit issues, it's really taking its time going together. It's the paint work that's doing it. Plus I've never done pre-shading on such a large scale. Here's the most recent pile of sprues. This isn't even half the sprues in the kit. The next step was to assemble the engine nozzles. I used a brown for the pre-shading on these parts to give a different finish to them. Not sure it worked out but it was worth a shot. Installed into the lower hull: As the kit I have is the original full option release, it has a lighting kit in it. For the engines, Bandai includes a diffuser assembly. It's a frosted plastic bit that goes behind the engine nozzles.

I wonder if I'll get mine before you then. Just ordered it from my LHS for pick-up which I'll do on the weekend.

Border Models Lancaster B.1 "Victorious Virgin"
BlrwestSiR replied to Winnie's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Nice to see it all closed up. Even if there is that gap, it's still a great milestone to hit on the build. I had to cut my HK Lanc fuselage apart after a number of the small fuselage windows fell in and had to be glued back into place so she's a bit of a mess seam wise and will need work when I get back to it. Ok, I went and picked up fresh (is that a thing?) marshmallows and this time they did what they were supposed to. So, success! So, the morale of the story: If at first you don't succeed, feed the evidence to the dog. -

Third! How's this Harv? If you build it, I'll start my Twogar. -

I tried to make Rice Crispy squares. It's didn't quite work out. I couldn't get the marshmallows to melt. They softened and formed a somewhat homogeneous mass but not the sticky syrupy gloop I was expecting. So I ended up with this: Tastes ok, but way too marshmallow-y. I think the marshmallows I used were too old. So off to the grocery for new ones and another try. -

Here's the case fory son's tablet. The edge is like a bumper so it gives when dropped. I found it on Amazon. 5 years now and no broken screen. The tablet is slow as snot these days though. -

Looks great Rob. Makes me want to drag my Corsair off the bench. -

That's what happens when they make a face and the tablet doesn't recognize them. Edward has broken 3 tablets so far, 2 of them were mine. Ended up getting a cheap Samsung with a ridiculously thick silicone bumper case and he's been fine since. -
It's the Special Hobby kit without the PE and resin bits. So possibly a bit challenging and the nose shape is off. Barracuda cast make a resin correction for the nose. Carl

The paint looks great there Rob. The pre-shading definitely provides a nice accent and helps break things up. AK Real Colors do thin and spray nicely. Carl -

John, you always do a great job with seats and in particular, seat belts. Whether they're PE, fabric, plastic (still don't know what witchcraft you use with the Finemolds one) or moulded on, they look fantastic. Carl -
Peter, it's actually 4. 2 HK Lancs and 2 Border Lancs.!!! The big issue is figuring out where to put them all when there done.

Thanks guys. It's been relaxing just sticking stuff together and knowing it'll fit. Small update for the moment. The kit has a representation of the corridor at the top of the ramp. I used cream white and a brown wash to reflect the lived in look the interior had. All you'll really see of it at the top of the ramp.

Just got back from the past office. The remaining bits of the Border Lanc have arrived. Thankfully it's all in one box. It seems that Sprue Brothers took the clear bits out and sent them separately to prevent/minimize any damage. So that worked. Thanks to our fearless leader @Clunkmeister for the kit. Now to find shelf space for it and the one I got earlier from my sons. Talk about first world problems.

Looks like an impressive camera Rob. Carl
