  1. Really great job on the stars and bars as well as the stencilling. It's great not having to deal with silvering and other decal issues. Carl
  2. The couple times I tried water based paint, they peeled off in sheets. That includes the primers, even mixing in their binders and what have you. The aggravation wasn't worth worth it. The only way they worked was to use a non-water based primer and then they'd be fine. Which kind of defeated the point.
  3. That looks impressive but it's certainly big. I've got the same problem. I'm hoping to build a big enough display case in the spring with all the ones that I have. For the moment, the one 4 engine heavy I've completed (my B-24) is stored with her wings off on top of the stash shelves. No where else for it.
  4. I got more done than I thought or expected.
  5. Those figures look amazing. I'd love to be able to do mine that well.
  6. I wonder if they'll do a late version. Depending on the Canadian price, it may be worth grabbing. Anything involving shipping here will get expensive fast.
  7. Sounds very promising there Ernie. I just started using Aqueous Mr Surfacer 1000 as a primer. I'm liking that so far. What did you use for cleaning out the airbrush after? Carl
  8. The Silver wings P-6E? If so, I'm getting a seat ready. That's my favourite biplane. Carl
  9. It's the Special Hobby Whirlwind.
  10. I grabbed another Camel. The right one this time. Carl
  11. I couldn't help myself. I just wanted to glue something together. Besides my fingers. We'll see how far I get. I'm still working on the Falcon though.
  12. You've made a bunch of progress Ernie. It looks like a Helldiver now. Carl
  13. Me too! Mark, you're doing a great job. Nice tip on using toothpicks to help line everything up. Carl
  14. The Tamiya Mossie is a great kit but it's so easy to burn out on. I took a year long pause on my build and I've seen lots of other folks hit the wall on theirs progress-wise.
  15. One thing I forgot to mention is the new location puts me 5 minutes away from a hobby shop. Not one of the cheapest for kits, but they have a full stock of most paints and supplies. https://www.sunwardhobbies.ca/ There's also a great sandwich shop close by for some of the best Italian veal sandwiches in the city.
  16. She's closing the retail store but keeping an online one. So we're consolidating locations and the retail side is moving into the production location. The office manager and myself get to keep our jobs but instead of walking 5 minutes to work, I'll be driving for 15-20 minutes. So not the end of the world.
  17. Rob, that looks great. Like the others, I'm interested to see how the 1Man Army masks work out. I've used some Eduard PE masks in the past and those have worked but with different challenges. Carl
  18. I haven't had much time at the bench. Work has been crazy busy once the owner announced she's closing the store. The paintwork is taking all my time up but I think once I get to assembly things will speed up. Anyways, I managed to get the lower rear hull painted and most of the upper hull. The lower hull: The upper hull: I also got one of the lower bays done. Hopefully I'll have some more time this week.
  19. The Tamiya 1/48 kit?
  20. The original '70s series had the space ship built inside the wreck of the WWII battleship. Whaa??? This time around it's concealed as an partially buried city in 2199 as they decided to make the ship bigger.
  21. Peter, the results so far look great. It's hard to tell that you're having the fit issues you've described. Carl
  22. Nice! I got mine as well today. Took a quick break from work to pick it up. Haven't opened the box yet so you're ahead of me. Carl
  23. Reminds me of the B-3 from Broken Arrow, the John Woo film. Which isn't that hard I guess. They're both flying wings. Carl
